Should preppers have Diamond (DMD) coins or Bitcoins (BTC) on their survival doomsday checklists?

Preppers for DMD or BTC?

BTC is not apocalypse proof, contrary to what this article claims. For the prepper, the choice is extremely simple. In a low energy society, only low energy systems work. If any form of rudimentary internet exists, solar panel powered laptops can run a DMD node and keep the DMD network safe in any black swan event humanity will face. BTC will not survive the first second of its new life in a low energy society.

Here are the long reasons why:

  1. DMD is superior to BTC in all aspects but popularity
  2. DMD is a safehaven bank
  3. DMD is a future storage of value
  4. DMD is fighting no wars and have no enemies
    only friends...

Here is the short reason why:

DMD is efficient, DMD uses environmentally friendly POS technology vs BTC POW tech, DMD has low transaction fees and rapid transaction times. In any regional or global catastrophe event, BTC mining will become unsustainable pretty much immidiately, since power hungry ASIC mining factories in China and elsewhere will shut down operations, bringing everything to a rapid halt. All world regions still having undamaged laptops or small old pcs still running the DMD wallet or masternodes software, will easily, automatically, unattendedly keep the DMD network in working order, thereby providing the same excellent services they do today.

Humans, insects and DMD coins will easily survive the transition into a low tech future.

Existential threats to humanity? You got DMD? You got no worries! Perhaps I should run out trying to gather food instead of watching my DMD pile grow...

Needless to say, I'm heavily invested in DMD coins so please do your research before drawing your own conclusions.

in survival situations,, bitcoin nor diamond would hold any value because the blockchain is only online and people would only care about surviving and basic needs such as food, clean drinking water, shelter etc

DMD at least has a chance. When the dust has settled and the rapid/slow change societal breakdown has happened, nothing will have the same value relative to another. New economical needs and equilibria will be established. Cryptocurrency/blockchain technology removes the need for banks/central banks. If enough humans survive whatever crash, and enough humans have access to a rudimentary internet, electricity and low end laptops, DMD network will survive and provide the same high end services it does to people living today and right now. BTC will - by design -not.

I think people will be begging to be shot to death in the type of world where bitcoin completely dies...and I also believe that most of those beggars will have their wishes granted inside of the first year, assuming that they don't starve or freeze to death before that opportunity arises. Those who die within the first weeks will be the lucky ones.

VERY few in the first world nations have anything in their conditioning to help them in a dog-eat-dog, low/ no tech, survivalist world. Most of us have no idea how animal humans are at the core, when society isn't or it breaks down. As bad as it already is in many third world nations, it would be 10X worse if people in the "western world" had to face a similar environment, as very few of us have honed the skills of our primitive ancestors and the fall from the privileged life would fuel fear and anger like the world has never seen.

All that having been said, I'd likely push through all the hell that I'd face in that scenario and play the game of becoming a demon to remain in the flesh for bit longer, along with anyone else who cares at all to survive. But that's only because I'm a coward to death, not because I'm a strong man.

Haha! Youre probabaly right, in a wild wild west scenario, life is not so happy and extremely hard knocked...but once the dust finally settles, and hope returns...and the sun starts shining upon humanity anew...and trading starts between communities, there will be no need for cash...gold might be too hard to defend, but cryptos and blockchain will provide...if you have internet and a laptop, DMD will work for you as on of the means to facilitate trade. By design it will. And thats all this article is about. Thanks for sharing your intriguing thoughts!

Yeah. I suppose you're right,... about there eventually being a "new birth", at least. Hard to say what kind of "society" will grow out of that or what kind of tech will survive, if any.

If the whole world is sufficiently plundered and/or destroyed by the hopelessly fearful, then there's a chance that not one iota of advanced tech will remain once "the dust settles". Should that be the case, it will be up to the survivors to take steps towards rebuilding the infrastructure or not, and a lot of that decision will come down to whether they're generally accepting of (re-forming) communities or prefer to stick to more of a nomadic lifestyle, which might sound far-fetched, but I don't think it's too unlikely considering the level of hell that they'd face before the sun starts shining again.

A lot, perhaps most, of human behavior comes down to conditioning. When you've been trained by the environment to hide from or kill people passing by, seeing them more as monsters than fellow humans, it isn't going to be an easy process to start opening back up to them.

Then again, there is a slight chance that my cynicism doesn't align with reality... fingers crossed.

Be careful! Coin market are huge 1324 Cryptocurrencies DMD is only one of the coins. Important quetions are; Features of the coin compare tothe best ones. Check the Roadmap. Which technology are using and check the price.

Yepp, be very careful. Do your own research. Come to your own conclusions. That being said, DMD i 4 years old, it has 10-20 folded during 2017 depending on when you invested. DMD has all the necessary elements for a top 20 coin. Compared to cryptocurrency COINS, DMD is on place around 90. Compared to all ICOs and tokens and massive amoutn of junk out there, its on place around 180 on coinmarketcap.com. We had weak hands leaving us during something i call "the october selloff". These were weaker investors opting out of DMD and in for BTC i think. Everyone has to take their own decisions. No fundamentals had changed or has changed for DMD. If we didnt have that, DMD would have been 6-8 times the value it holds today. But new stronger DMD investors have replaced the old ones. We have now 128 masternodes locking in 50% of all DMD in circulation. Thats 10 more than during the october selloff. This together with passive income, near brilliant design, good team and friendly community is a powerful brew, making DMD a sleeping giant. Best regards.

Very interesting. I hadn't considered what decentralization will look like if we experience a doomsday style scenario. It's one thing to be able to maintain a network normally-- To do it in a low resource environment presents its own set of challenges I'd bet. Let's hope that doesn't happen, eh? Haha.

What if the apocalypse was a meteor shower, where all technologies wiped? Is this still proof then? oO I'm not aware of any "apocalypse" that takes out electricity permanently lol.

Whatever the scenario, when things settle down, if humanity has happened to survive and some kind of a rudimentary form of internet exists, DMD survives along with humans and insects and provides the excellent services it does today.

In a hypotgetical doomsday scenario one would expect chaotic scenes. People fighting for food. Women being raped. Gangs roaming the streets and taking anything they want. Possible mass violence. And power outages. No power

There are so so many situations that can result in a low energy society. And there are so so many ways humanity can and will react to the transition from what we know now to a low energy society. But assuming it's a soft powerdown, and slower change from high-to-low energy society, you will have time to adjust. Having time to adjust, and internet persists, DMD network will survive guaranteed.

Assuming a fast societal change with less time for humanity to adapt (limited nuclear strikes, exploding calderas, volcano eruptions, virus outbreaks, meteor strikes, AI-war which comes to a stalemate etc), colonies of humans will survive, and if a rudimentary internet exists between the colonies, DMD network will survive and carry on.

Thanks all for intelligent commentary hitherto! Best regards!

I’d be surprised to read some media about Samsung and Apple dating and sharing beds. Of course I can’t find anything about DMD and BTC being love birds. Everyone wants to be #1.
Competition + controversy = Prime Real Estate and that’s exactly where BTC is. Everything that isn’t BTC is an Altcoin and I love Altcoins too. Promote Bitcoin, promote, promote, promote. Just like all ya’all are doing by comparing one against the other, they’re all great promotional tools so please.. keep up the good work!

Hi! thanks for your comment! If were hostile we can call it advertisement, propaganda, biased information; if were friendly, we can call it promotion, raising awareness, sharing knowledge...It all depends on through which lens you view BTC, altcoins, cryptocurrency in general! Best regards!

Thanks for having me!

You might want to consider using electricity for lighting and a bunch of other things rather than block chain during the end of the world. I bet Mad Max would make an interesting movie with a bunch of guys in cars with low end laptops trading water and gasoline for cryptos.

An argument could naturally be made for cryptos that are less demanding than bitcoin in a less dystopic but not ideal future.

Hi! and yes, absolutely! First the basic stuff (often in accordance with Maslow's hierarchy of needs), but at some point, trade is inevitable for human evolution and existence. And with trade, -if there is a rudimentary internet with some power available - why not fire up a cheap and super-effective DMD-node for all your trading needs! That way, you circumvent banks in many ways and keep a middle man away/out. Dont forget that cryptocurrency is a new asset class, the newest that exists and will be with us in one form or other for all of eternity as long as the cryptography of the tech works (which it will) and the need for trade exists (which it will) Best regards and thanks for you comment
