Advertisement Kinder to Consumers : Kind Ads

The popular coin ranking site, CoinMarketCap.Com, announced on August 3rd, 2018 the introduction of a new payment method and advertising strategy: Kind Ads (KIND). Their reasoning was simple:

"The Kind network enables advertisers and publishers to be connected directly using traditional and innovative ad formats, meaning that advertisers can get direct access to publishers’ inventories, a win-win on both sides in terms of cost and access. As part of their model, users may also have greater control over their data and interests too."

In more general terms, KIND cuts out the middleman and allow advertisers and publishers to be connected directly.

KIND has now been integrated into thirteen services; including email marketing company MailChimp and marketing service ActiveCampaign.

Publishers

KIND rates publishers and domains through an algorithm that is based on their historical data and oracles, such as ones powered by Google Analytics (an oracle is a data feed that transmits real-life data into the blockchain). Many services have already been using analytic and statistical resources, which makes the integration of Kind Ads easy. This rating will be crucial as it is used by advertisers seeking publishers. Publishers get 85% of advertising dollars.

Being Kinder to Users

KIND allows users to be more than consumers. The remaining 15% of advertisement dollars is pooled as a reward and incentive for users to share data with publishers. According to the Kind Ads whitepaper:

“Users will be able to specify exactly how they allow their data to be used, and will be incentivized to grant publishers (and advertisers) more access via token rewards. As an example, a user who grants the publisher the right to let a third party advertiser market to them would be rewarded with more tokens than a user who grants the publisher only the right to market to them directly with no third party marketing allowed.”

In an age where online privacy is a rising concern and controversy, especially around the cryptocurrency community, it would generally be appreciated if users can control how much data they are sharing or transmitted to ad companies.
