In my opinion that would definitely work. I saw a Dell Server PowerEdge for about $300 before. Although you wont make much. Maybe about $40 a month. It would take more than a month to make a monero.
In general you should do GPU mining and look into making a GPU rig.
Thanks for responding. I just got on minergate and want to mine Ether classic, Monero and Aeons. I thought those cryptonotes didnt like GPU and were geared to CPU so it could level the ASIC/GPU playing field? Im seriously friggen confused and desperately want to get into mining. I feel like every day that goes by Im missing out on the future. Which coins can a fast CPU (x5675) mine? I truly appreciate your feedback. I have the money, I just need to spend it smart.....thanks

Yes those currencies are geared toward CPU mining but of course people find ways to use GPUs. A quick search has shown me that those coins do have a GPU miner available and GPUs get a 5x average advantage on Monero. Why so set on CPU mining if you have money to build a GPU rig?

Ya I know I sound stupid, this is all pretty new to me. I spent most of my younger years in life hitting my head off of hard objects.... I want a server for long term storage, trading software and also to mine. I need to figure out how to add 10 graphics cards to a Dell 410 server. Is that even possible. I want to duplicate the Klimax-210, that tech looks baaaaaddd assssssss. Thanks for responding when no one else would
