SpaceMining – Once in a while something pops up that’s too good to be true and it takes some poor sucker chucking some cash in to see if that is the case. Guess who that poor sucker is? Yup – you’ve guessed it – me!
As you probably know, I’ve been churning faucets for a couple of weeks to see if it’s actually worth anyones time (it’s not), and during these regular visits, up popped a website called SpaceMining. The thing that caught my eye about this site, as you can probably see from the advert on the right hand side, is that you get 100GHs free upon sign up. You read that right – FREE! Now I know that it’s absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things when it comes to mining Bitcoin, but its free.
I had a look around the website. The pictures of the founders give the impression that they are sound reasonable people, and the text (bar the odd spelling mistake) is well worded and makes sense. The link to the company on Companies House looks legit, as is the address (you can check out the office block where they are situated on Google Maps). Everything looked OK to me, so I registered. What have I to loose? They don’t need any personal information to register and you get 100GH/s free!
As soon as I’d registered on SpaceMining, I was presented with a lovely dashboard that started counting up bitcoins. Slowly – but counting up all the same, and like the greedy fool I am, I saw that there could be some potential here, so I transferred some BTC across to see if it would work.
Then I read the comments knocking around on some of the well known forums. Ponzi Scheme. Scam. Waste of time. You’ll never get your money back. The images they’ve used for the founders are available on Getty. Oh crap! What have I done.
I sat watching the Satoshis counting up. At least 1 a second. Sometimes it jumped two or three. Have I just been jipped? I just had to close the site and check in the morning, hoping it would still be there.
This morning came, and I logged back onto the site. Phew. Site loaded up fine and I was still logged in from yesterday. I had also made enough Satoshi (0.00025000) for the withdrawal limit, so I hit the payout section and withdrew as fast of my little fingers would let me. A message popped up saying something along the lines of “this could take some time” and again my heart sank. Some time could be anything from 1 second to 300 years!
I kept checking Bleutrade, as thats the BTC address I used, and nothing. Checked again 10 minutes later. Nothing. Then nothing. And nothing. And nothing. Then, to my surprise, up popped the transaction and 0.00025000 Satoshis had appeared in my account.
I’m not holding much hope, but as I am about to hit the withdrawal limit again, I shall transfer from SpaceMining to Bleutrade and hope for the best. I’ll also keep this post updated and pray that I hit at least 10 withdrawals, which will give me my money back.

Cheers. Being new to the whole thing, I'm still learning. I suppose 'if it's too good to be true, its a scam' is something I'll have to etch into my brain! And at least I only spent £36 - I'd be mortified if I'd spent £100s.
