Good morning and happy Thursday! As there is much to talk about, yet there is much to do as well, lets make a quick recap of what i picked up last night, perhaps you find some valuable or cool pieces of information inside. Comments, criticism, ideas - all welcome.

Remember the Upbit drama last week? Yeah, exactly, you have a good memory - the drama that is suspected of wiping $50 bil from the market in a blink.

What was the case again, you ask? Apparently, last week suspicions arose, that Upbit cryptocurrency exchange wasn't playing straight, as the South Korean police in cooperation with multiple financial units raided the Upbit offices in SK. newsbtc.com reports:

According to local media, suspicions against Upbit include coinless transactions, allegations of money laundering, leakage of money through US trading sites, and suspicion of insider trading during the listing process. No charges have been filed at the moment of writing.

As the rumors of Upbits demise along wiht all the other FUD spread quickly, Upbit customers started withdrawing their funds in an unorderly manner, contributing to the market short-term wipeout.

Now there are luckily anti-FUD rumors spreading, that Upbit has been cleared with recent audits, as the books match exactly with the numbers reported, according to Lee Seok-woo, from Dunamu, Upbits parent company. As the audit was merely an internal one, confirmation or forgetting is needed from the outside world. Good days.

Blockchain powered smartphones!

What!? Yeah! HTC, the Taiwanese tech giant, announced on the Consensus 2018, that they will be producing a blockchain powered smartphone, which will go on sale in October this year and users can purchase it using Bitcoin.

According to the Exodus (the upcoming blockchain phone) project leader Phil Chen, the phone will have a built-in secure hardware enclave as he and his team want to see a world where "the end consumers can truly own their data, such as browsing history, identity, assets, wallets, emails, messaging, without the need for central authorities", reports newsbtc.com

We're probably not just talking about built-in cryptowallets, NFC crypto payments here anymore, we're potentially looking at tech that can be used to decentralize the system even more. Anonymous everything. Except what goes through your cellphone carriers gates :)

Initial thought is a slow and clunky device, but i'll hold my prejudiced opinion back as innovation comes and smacks us in the face. Time will tell. Perhaps i'll be one of the first users of said Exodus :)

Bitshares!

Bitshares, our old friend, is breaking records it own records, with processing 1,598,882 transactions within a 24-hr period, lagging only behind Steem, who'se holding the crown and the scepter with more than 2 mil transactions.

Great wrapup @furious-one.

Initial thought is a slow and clunky device, but i'll hold my prejudiced opinion back

This was exactly my initial reaction but I'm actually pretty pumped about this. Phones are a massive information sink and it's a space that will benefit from improvement.

blockchain phones sound good on paper, but I doubt it'll be of any value.

you can do everything on "normal" phones, perhaps even better if you use open-source and verifiable apps. as long as the OS & all apps won't be completely open and audited, you can simply not trust a manufacturer.

You're probabaly right about that, cannot trust any 3rd party with anything really. Only me me me takes care of my money and information best. But on paper it really does sound awesome. Imagine rest of the gang rocking iPhones and Samsung J5-s when you smack your blockchain phone on the table. Skirts will fall :)

a mesh-ready blockchain phone with extra range etc would be something I'd consider though. make it truly censorship resistant

Let's hope Bitshares will do a nice up this year as well =D

I think this is one of the biggest problems we face in the crypto sphere and will continue to face, FUD. Having one rumor (not necessarily true) has the power to wipe 50bln in market cap in a day, that is horrendous and something that will keep a lot of traditional investors away. This is one issue that really needs to be looked at going forward, how to stop the FUD from crippling the market

Nice roundup ! Thnks :)

Decentralize everything.

Nowadays, phones are becoming a massive information sink.
The upcoming blockchain phone will be having built-in secure hardware enclave which will help the end consumers to own their data, like browsing history, identity, assets, wallets, emails, messaging, without the need for central authorities.
