When will it be time?

Today I went to buy some Euros with our National fiat currency. Not a good time to buy, but I need to do that, I postponed that long enough, waiting for a better exchange rate.

Someone might wonder: why do you even need to buy paper Euros, when you can use your credit card and it's converted instantly?

Well, apart from the fact that in the banking system you pay extra for convenience, if you have traveled a bit (not even too much), you know there are lots of places, even in touristic areas that are untouched by the banking system, so paper money are really needed. Not to mention what do you do if your credit card(s) get stolen or damaged and you find yourself in a foreign country with no money, because you thought the plastic kind is enough? Or if you can't find a bank ATM in the area when you need it.

Anyway, as I was on my way to an back from the exchange office, I thought how useful mass adoption of a no-fee cryptocurrency such as STEEM would be for transactions wherever you are in the world. Without researching what is the local currency, what is the exchange rate to the currency you use (or if you are unlucky to use a more exotic currency, then to a wide-circulation currency).

I can see in the future transactions peer to peer, from phone to phone, or from phone to a sort of business POS, which works by reading QR codes, without entering any private key manually.

The only thing you'd have to watch like a hawk is your phone, but with newer models having fingerprint locks, that's more secure, even if it gets stolen.
