Tips For New Cryptocurrency Investors
Taking a dive into something new can be arduous and daunting. A seemingly perilous journey into the unknown can turn into a deterrent for most people. Cryptocurrency can feel this way to the person looking to get their feet wet. As a community, it is our responsibility to help inform new members of the community, while easing their experience into what seems to be an endless expanse of coins and tokens.
Below are some helpful tips that I've put together for new cryptocurrency investors.
1. Do your own research to form your own conclusions.
It goes without saying, the best decisions are informed decisions. There are a lot of opinions in the crypto space, particularly because the community exists on social media and sharing platforms such as Steemit, Youtube, Telegram, etc. Combine this phenomenon with that fact that it is industry standard to employ MLM (multi-level marketing) and we get a smorgasbord of unsubstantiated opinions for financial gain.
Whenever considering investing in a new project, always consider the following:
- What product is the company offering?
- Direct competitors?
- Use cases/ utility?
- Team/ Company Advisors?
- Roadmap/ Whitepaper?
- Community?
This is just a starting point but should provide you with a lot of initial incite as you learn more about the potential investment.
2. Plan your exit BEFORE entering.
To save yourself from future headaches and money lost, please consider your exit position prior to investing in coins or tokens. Ask yourself, "Why am I purchasing this? How long do I want to be in on the investment? What profits or loses am I comfortable with taking?" Working through these questions will help you mitigate fear and greed later on once you've entered the investment.
3. Diversify your portfolio.
The cryptocurrency market is very volatile. However, as with other emerging markets, they generally go up over time. Investing in solid projects with strong communities can expose you to more gains while spreading your risk across more coins and tokens.
