bearableguy123 is a jester. He makes jokes and reverses things. For example, on Twitter he changed his name to 321yugelbaraeb, which is the reverse spelling of his original name.
He applied the same technique of reversal when creating his $589+ EOY 2018 riddle.
Through this bearableguy123 reversal method, EOY (end of year) translates to BOY (beginning of year).
Notice the price of the coin at BOY 2018. The coin was worth $589+ that day.
A similar technique can be applied to the $2396+ figure written on the instructional whiteboard in bearableguy123's Christmas riddle.
On the coin's first day of recorded trading, Oct 29th 2016, it was worth $2396+.
589 also refers to a recent rule, outlined by CME Group:
NYMEX/COMEX Rule 589 (Special Price Fluctuation Limits) to apply price fluctuation limits to certain metals futures and options contracts. Price fluctuation limits deter sharp price movements that may, for example, be driven by illiquid central limit order books prevailing from time to time in otherwise liquid markets.

As of a few hours ago the subreddit is now open again. bearableguy123 claims to be at a cryptocurrency meetup in Texas, subversively false-hinting that he is Bob Way. Brilliant damage control.
I'll leave it there. His desire for privacy should be respected.
