Serious read- Please remember that everyone has an agenda. Do your own research, vote with your (crypto) wallets, and spread education.

I think today would be a good day to remind everyone of a few important things. Let's spread this to the believers in crypto- whether you realize it or not, we're the early adopters in this industry and we need to set the standard. We are all on the same team.

There are people out there who will make a lot of money from panic and bad headlines. People in this subreddit. The futures contracts are expiring today, and people are now (wrongly) correlating that with the crash the last time it happened. To profit on this, all people have to do is transfer X amount to Tether/fiat yesterday or the day before and buy when the market is low.

How does this happen? They spread FUD. Sensationalist titles, bad sentiments, etc. Please remember to dyor on everything you read. There's a post on the sub right now that says something along the lines of "US official has thoughts on crypto restrictions" but that isn't what the article says at all. I know what you're thinking, "HamInHand, I know all this, there's nothing we can do." Yes there is! This subreddit is an echo chamber of the crypto world. As stupid as it sounds, we play a big part in what people think.

Here's an analogy- If you take anything away from this post, let it be this (I know this situation probably can't happen but let's pretend). Let's say you didn't invest in stocks at all. A post about a stock exchange getting hacked made the front page of Reddit and then all over the internet- would you go out and invest in ANY stock soon? No you wouldn't. Stocks would leave a bad taste in your mouth. What would the stock trader do? They'd avoid that exchange, maybe move their funds. In crypto we are the insiders looking out- we're the stock trader, and 99% of the population are the outsiders- formulating and enforcing beliefs about crypto with every headline they read.

To the people/news outlets who profit from the fud- look, I know you probably don't give a shit, but is it worth it? If you believe in the future of crypto, do you really think making a quick buck is worth all the negativity that you're spreading that people will remember? I know this post probably won't have much of an effect, but even if I've changed one person's outlook then my job is done. This is how market beliefs start, and I'll take one for the team today and do my part.

If for some reason this reaches the front page and you have bad sentiments about crypto already- please please please just take 10 minutes to educate yourself from reliable sources, I promise you this is the future and you don't have to hate it because people tell you to.

I always urge people to do their own research no matter the subject. One of my favorite memes states, "I don't expect you to think like me. I expect you to think." I just wish more people would do it.

Agreed!
