1. Septwolves Group Ltd.
Co-founder Xu Fangcheng is the Supply Chain Management Director of Septwolves Group Ltd, which was voted “Asia’s 200 Best Under a Billion” in 2013 valued at $867 million. As of now, the company is valued slightly over a billion dollars.
The company designs, manufactures, and sells apparels domestically and overseas. Its domestic stores already have RFID technology implemented to allow online-to-offline experience - customers can find clothes they want and check inventory. This has already been increasing the stores sales.
2. Chinese & Korean Government Support
Walton attended BRICS Summit, an international relations conference attended by the heads of state or government. The invitation came from Silicon, a government-backed semi-conductor company and an investor of Walton. One of Walton’s technical advisor, Professor Kim Suk Ki, also has close ties with Silicon for his knowledge and contribution to the semiconductor industry. (You can find a picture of the professor on Silicon’s website)
Several members of Septwolves board of directors also happen to work at Banko of China.
An angel investor from Korea, Shen Dongxie, is currently running for Congress. He is already in the Democratic Party and a proponent supporter of free trade between Korea, Japan, and China. You can read more about him at Reddit
3. Jinjiang Competition (Channel Cup)
Jinjiang is a city within Fujian province. It’s one of the richest city in China with many apparel manufacturers. Because of the city’s focus on apparel industry, it holds an annual Jinjiang Competition for college students. The competition includes every aspect of apparel business from design to supply.
Many of the Walton team members are university students in PhD programs. This gave eligibility for Walton team to enter the competition. First price will win 1.3 billion KWN ($ 1.1 million USD) and a contract with Jinjiang City.
It’d be great if Walton team wins the competition, however, the team is already backed by one of the largest apparel company in China (Septwolves) and Korea (Beseto).
