The easily missed corollary here is that Armin Habibi is encouraging unprofessional investors to engage in risky trading.
Part of the HODl meme is acknowledging that day trading is SUPER RISKY and should only be done by trained individuals who completely understand the risk / reward ratios and potential outcome of losing all on an unexpected market turn.

Well played. I am not a fan of the day traders who try to time the market waves. If you're going to invest in something, have faith that it will be a good investment long term. If you're chasing fads, you're much more likely to get burned... even if you think you've made a profit, you still need to take taxes into account!
At the same time, I so think bitcoin and other cryptos do benefit from people using them as a medium of exchange. Not just buying and selling cryptos, but using them to buy products, real estate, services, etc.... I just shudder everytime I hear the stories of kids buying Ferraris a few years ago in Bitcoin... none the less, it proves cryptos are effective tools for commerce.

What Armin is talking about is basic risk management, everyone should have a basic risk management plan when they put money intro crypto.
