Bitcoin is the top-dog of cryptocurrencies, and due to its popularity, it lured in not only stock investors but also people from different walks of life. - Including celebrities!
Bitcoinβs epic rise in 2017 has put the cryptocurrency space into the spotlight for the last few months. People have already bought houses with their profits. Experts have issued many warnings that a crash was going to happen. Others optimistically predict Bitcoin prices to rise to $30,000, $60,000, $1M and so on. Hackers are doing everything to steal it, sometimes with great success. And of course, showbiz and sports personalities are getting on the bandwagon.
Celebs always want to be on the trend, and cryptocurrencies are trending now. Letβs have a peek on some big-name TV and business personalities and what they say about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton first seemed excited about cryptos in 2016. Then, in 2017, she tweeted that she was participating in an initial coin offering for LydianCoin. But her interest was short-lived as she seemed to have distanced herself from the project.
Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx endorsed Cobinhood. The entertainer tweeted a promotion for the free cryptocurrency exchange in September last year.
Floyd Mayweather
Floyd Mayweather announced on Instagram that he was part of an initial coin offering (ICO) for Stox.com. The champion boxer also promoted a second cryptocurrency on instagram in August 2017. He said: βYou can call me Floyd Crypto Mayweather from now on.β

"I appreciate and accept this kind gesture on behalf of my football league," he said. Back in 2013, Snoop tweeted his interest in making his music available to purchase via Bitcoin.

Bill Gates
βBitcoin is exciting because it shows how cheap it can be. Bitcoin is is better than currency in that you don't have to be physically in the same place. And with large transactions, currency can get pretty inconvenient. The customers were talking about trying to be anonymous but they're willing to be known so with technologies that you could add to bitcoin or build on top of it where there's enough attribution, the people feel comfortable. This has nothing to do with terrorism or any type of money laundering.β

Former Vice President of the United States
βWhen bitcoin currency is converted from currency into cash, that interface has to remain under some regulatory safeguards. I think the fact that within the bitcoin universe an algorithm replaces the function of the goverment β¦[that] is actually pretty cool.β

John McAfee
The John McAfee effect pumps the price of altcoins as John McAfee, founder of McAfee Associares (known for McAfee antivirus) mentions why he believes in certain altcoins in his daily tweets. He even betted on Bitcoin moving above $500,000!

You're welcome... Right. They're influential and I think they might negatively affect the industry more than they should if they talk about bad news on cryptos too much. I'd rather they remain quiet if there's FUD.
