The average person still views Cryptocurrency solely as a currency that is meant to function in place of the fiat currency they currently use (USD, CAD, EUR, etc.). The majority of Cryptocurrency holders understand the purpose of Crypto extends further than just transferring money around or being used as a store of value. This seems to be a fundamental knowledge gap which has created completely different opinion on each side of the fence.
Solution
Personally I’ve found success explaining the value of Cryptocurrency to friends, acquaintances and family members through explaining the value of through examples of BASIC real life case uses that apply to them. They generally have no idea that Blockchain and Smart Contracts could have any impact on their life at all.
Use simple examples
Have they used Paypal before? Explain REQ. Do they use Dropbox? STORJ. They’re a Redditor? Steemit. Are they a Youtube Video creator getting almost no revenue from ads? Basic Attention Token.
There are hundreds of BASIC and SIMPLE to understand examples of Cryptocurrencies like these. Closing this gap and explaining to the average person why Cryptocurrency is not just some scam or big bubble full of speculative idiots could change a lot. This is how we can bring more consumers, investors & increase the rate of adoption. All of these things could help the market and technology as a whole.
