Keeping pace with growing popularity of cryptocurrencies, a sister concern of Unilever has started accepting Bitcoin for online payments.

Now customers of personal care products company Schmidt's Naturals, owned by Unilever, are being able to pay in Bitcoin.

Talking to CNBC, co-founder and CEO of Schmidt's, Michael Cammarata, said they have started accepting payment in Bitcoin as the consumers want it.

On Tuesday he said many customers expressed their eagerness to pay in Bitcoin, prompting the company to start this service.

Currently the company is using BitPay, a bitcoin payment service provider, for all kinds of online transactions in Bitcoin.

Because of this latest development, now customers are paying in Bitcoin shopping on the company's website for a variety of natural products.
