Good points, succinctly and well made. A pause for thought though. Perhaps the strategic objective of Telegram is a little bit more opaque than simply bringing faster transactions to the blockchain - there are others who are already well down the road working on faster platforms and transaction speeds such as NEO, Waves, Dash, Ripple (the one everybody loves to hate) and even the old lady Bitcoin might get an injection of youth with the introduction of the Lightning protocol. With their huge user platform Telegram may very well be making a play for transferring messaging and social media interaction to the blockchain with first mover advantage. I don't think it's a coincidence that Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook have expressed an interest in exploring the utility value of blockchain for future development of their platform...
