What Determines a Person's Value? (aka - why I invest in cryptocurrency)

Your fiat currency (USD/EUR/etc) has a value system. Do you know what it is? Do you know whether you agree with that value system or not? What happens to you if you disagree? How do you get your needs for food, shelter, and other necessities of life met if you don't want to serve the value system behind your nation's currency?

In the video below, I share one of the many reasons I love cryptocurrency so much, which is that it allows us to prosper by supporting systems of value that mean something to us. Each cryptocurrency project is basically its own system of value.

Maybe the value is for "unbanking the banked" (Omisego OMG). Or maybe it is for protecting copyrights of photographers (Copytrack CPY). Or maybe it's something related to fostering more use of renewable energy, or an internet no government can censor, or, or, or....

Now I'm no expert on cryptocurrency. I'm a business consultant by trade, so I know how to evaluate a business idea and the team behind it pretty well. I'm also someone who has been dedicated to trying to uplift and improve the lives of others ever since I was a teenager. So when I look at crypto, I look at it from the viewpoint of someone looking to see how well I think the technology will solve a problem that I value seeing solved.

I call it "values-based crypto investing." At the end of the video where you here me refer to joining me in conversation on the topic, I'm talking about a social media group I have called Conscious Crypto for Beginners and also a YouTube channel I started recently called Conscious Crypto with Indigo. Rather than trying to be an expert on crypto, which I definitely am NOT, I seek to be the organizer of a conversation that needs to be had.

I think that it's wonderful that so many people are making so much money with crypto, and without having to serve the interests of powers they may not want to further empower. But I think that aims too low.

I want to invite you into conversation with me right here on Steemit as we aim a little higher. Let's get out of the scarcity mentality we've been trained to have that says we have to make a buck wherever we can. That values-based investing is an indulgence only the rich can afford. Let's start realizing that the entire market is trending upward, and that we can actually make money among hundreds of different options.
