Are we in a dip and this is a sale the year or this what the new norm is?
I think SMT and communities will be a big factor in the future price, good or bad depending on how well executed they are and if they are released by then. I also think the US regulations that will likely affect SMT's will be a large factor in their success and the price of STEEM as a result.
When I first got here, I bought STEEM at as low as $0.68, and I worry about the long term success of STEEM I still see $1.60 as a dip and potential opportunity.
What you think?
Not investment advice, just starting a conversation.
Not sure about what holds after 3 months. But disappointed for sure at the moment as I bought delegation at a high price and the prices suddenly nose-dived. :(

I agree with you. Steemt is looking really good. And it all depends on what you believe. You could see the earlier price dip as a opportunity to buy more or a scare to start powering down and selling. At the end, each investor will have to take the position that feels more comfortable to their own risk level

This.
Edit - I forgot to add that aside from what development may or may not take place on the platform, I think the price will largely follow the overall crypto market.

The G20 Summit and Japan talking about regulations caused panic and fear, but with Mark Carney and the majority of the G20 members rejecting this idea of cryptocurrency regulation, the panic and fear will fade, and trust will return. That being said.
A realistic number in my head is $5 - $10 in 3 months.
Possible, but an unlikely number in my head would be $25-$45

I think $5 is possible, I think $10 is a stretch with how things are going at this point.

I think Steem in 3 months time will get much better and has a lot of room but just depends on regulations playing a big part on what are securities or not. With that being said and i can't give financial advice because of these "Regulations" i have to "warn" you might lose it all. Atleast have fun doing it though!!!

Current dip is crypto-wide and not specific to STEEM. So as soon as the correction is over, STEEM will go back to around 3-4$ again and afterwards everything is possible.
I'd say in 3 month: 5$.

If I had the monetary resources, I would invest in buying steem .. to increase my steempower .. since they are still a minnows .. and I do not have enough power to help my little followers with an upvote of rewards since my vote is only worth 0.01 cent ..
and the $ 1.6 steem is a great opportunity to invest .. for the one who has the resources

At times like this I'd like to remind people of just one thing: Steem is still in beta. Do not forget that it is still in its infancy.

Bigger community. I think the community is big enough though but it is spreading all over the world. I chat with people and they are from everywhere else. It's cool that steemians doesn't have race barriers or any barriers because of where you're from. You can talk to everyone and everyone is friendly. Your thoughts matter and may the best thoughts win :D This is how websites should be. Long live steemit!

In my opinion it will grow really fast and big in the close future. It's kind of best crypto to buy at the moment because it's really low (watching it's max price). My feeling says people with buy it in large quantities but that's just my thoughts.
Have a nice evening - @tonac :)

We are down because Bitcoin is down when bitcoin experiences another bull run or stabilizes we will go up or when cryptos stop being pegged to bitcoin price!

I think there will always be a close relationship of all coins to BTC, LTC did a good job of breaking free but that was short lived.

There are projects out there trying to change that, tether was designed for that but they ended up being so scammy that it had the opposite effect and it helped cause the capitulation we had earlier this year... Now there is TUSD (TrueUSD) we have to wait and see how that goes, i believe that is our only opportunity to escape the bitcoin roller coaster for other cryptos.

In crypto, looking 3 months out is useless. About a month ago I was on the Ripple sub and I grew to hate the community. There's only so much FUD one can take and I can't take any. Anyway, I'd been holding a fuck load of Ripple since Early May 2017 when I bought them on cheap (0.06) I let it ride and dump a shitload when they reach $3.80. While holding I would always tell the reddits the coin is worthless. Then when I sold it all, I told redditors the truth about what Ripple really is so they could understand it. They hated it. My last sentence was that the overall crypto market will return to normalcy when Ripple hits 0.40. They hated this sentence more than the last. Then I left with one final thought to drive them over the edge. The Banks are testing the Ripple Net to learn from it and rip it off. In exchange, the bank allows Ripple to say they are working with bank x bank y and bank z which is is designed to get you are some pumps but its not working like it used to. But everyone knows the banks will build their own blockchain solutions after they learn from Ripple.
I do see Steem dropping. The strategic gambler in my is think $1.54 over next couple weeks. But let's look at what happened during the last 3 months using closing prices.
4-19-18: $1.83 with trading vol of 3,499,140
12-19-17: $2.92 with trading vol of 16,961,200
Highest Close
1/3/2018 $8.03 with trading vol of 81,599,700

As we open up the platform to more and more different platforms and currency gateways, and go from a beta platform to a more polished and perfected blockhain, it could only be 3 or 4 months before we see 10$ sbd/ls and higher start to be the norm.

Honestly, my opinion is that steam will go back up, and stay at a constant rate. Because unlike a lot of other cryptocurrencies, steem actually has an amazing community that are dedicated to creating content to earn it. Steem isn’t just a buy and trade cryptocurrency, that’s why I have faith in it.
