Self introduction
Hi steemians! Excited to introduce the TRIBELA team to this community. TRIBELA is an innovative, new social media platform where users engage, interact, and share on a visual voting platform. Please visit us at http://tribela.io to learn more!
What is Tribela?
Our users stake TRIBELA Coins (TRB) – a blockchain token – on voting positions in user-opinion elections. Upon the closing of such elections, voters on a position which wins an overall majority will be rewarded with a tranche of additional TRB. To influence the course of public opinion, users may also expend further TRB and our parallel currency, TRIBELA Power (TRP), to post detailed opinions and arguments in support of their voting positions. In effect, TRIBELA hopes to enable our users to “put their money where their mouth is”.
TRIBELA will put influence back where it belongs – in the hands of the users who make up a community – and, in turn, become the first and – arguably – only platform to turn influence into a traceable, trackable quantifiable form: TRIBELA will turn influence into a currency.
A brief recap on the future.
In 2009, some genius named Satoshi Nakamoto invented bitcoin. Since then, there has been a tremendous increase in interest in cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies, to date, are still and should be considered as speculative assets. We have over 1600 coins/tokens being listed on CoinMarketCap. However besides wet dreaming about seeing the value of your crypto assets in your account jumping up and down every second, we have not feel how these coins/tokens, with their underlying technologies, have changed our lives.
A new era for internet is going to begin. With blockchain, we will be able to create a new economy where we can give value to digital contents and cater for transaction of value in a much more efficient manner. People are often skeptical about the value of any cryptocurrency for various reasons. This is normal. Imagine a Pokémon card having the value of US$ 100,000. It’s totally subjective, by whether you are within the Pokémon community or not. The theoretical value of a currency is determined by its adoption and transactional velocity.
We often hear speculation of us moving towards Web3.0, how blockchain is going to take over the world of internet. The pure hollowness of these terms was unable to prevent the total market capital of cryptocurrencies to reach 400 billions today. We have reached today’s value through the prospect of a beautiful dream and the millions of people who are buying into this dream. Amidst all the hypes building around new protocols and new currencies, I believe REAL applications running on these ecosystems are the ultimate drivers to deliver these dreams.
So here we are…
Why are we doing Stuff War?
How many times have you seen endless discussions on forums going on everyday? Everybody has opinions. Some people are more vocal and others less. The fact is most of the debates do not have a conclusive ending. It is natural for human beings to seek for truth but truth can never be found. The best way for us to get anything close to truth is to have a framework. Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton, Messi vs CR7, Adidas vs Nike, IOS vs Android, blah-blah-blah… People can argue until end of the world and they will not find the absolute truth.
It will be interesting for us, if we could create such a framework, that makes discussions engaging and entertaining, and at the same time able to quantify community opinion into a “conclusion”. Human beings are social animal with high intelligence. We should be critical and be able to express our opinions one way or another. The whole idea about Tribela’s ecosystem is to realize the value of influence a user may have within the community through entertainment, rewards and ownership.
What’s the value of Tribela’s ecosystem?
Social media has played a huge part of our lives since the start of 21st century. There are more than 3 billion users on social media in the world. Facebook has a market-cap of US$ 500+ billion. The next tier of social media platform such as Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn are also valued at tens of billion US dollar. Users are the most important assets of these platforms. However users are more often tools for these platforms to generate revenue, without any reward.
So tools like you and I… I mean, users, have been the major contributors to the growth of these platforms. However thanks to capitalism, the annual shareholder meetings don’t have a shit to do with us. I’m not pissed. It’s our choice. But if we can incorporate users into the growth of OUR community, a place where WE can have OUR platforms for entertainment, a place where WE can have OUR own set of governance, a place where WE get a piece of revenue in OUR own ecosystem, that’s not bad right? Or perhaps, WE should just do it and make it wonderful!
Why Blockchain/Cryptocurrency?
With bitcoin, we see how we can use cryptography and blockchain to create an open ledger, accounting for all the transactions of a currency. In ethereum and all those other ICOs that pursue, we see how we can build an economy on a distributed network to run decentralized applications. In steem, we see how we can run a social platform on a blockchain, creating an unique ecosystem that channels value back to the user.
Blockchain can be viewed as simple as a database alternative. However its openness and distributive nature ensures it can bring a new dimension to the game of internet. Running the economy behind the Tribela community on traditional platform is going to be tedious and complicated. Handling transactions, smart contracts for rewarding users, security of the user wallet, blockchain is able to streamline all these scenarios in a nutshell.
The future is certainly very promising. There are certainly going to be obstacles along the way but we strive to form a great community.
LET’S TRUST THE PROCESS!
Best,
Tribela
