College Students are Flocking to Cryptocurrency Related Classes! (Plus an 82% increase in Crypto-related jobs)

Stanford and other top computer science universities are seeing students flock to cryptocurrency related classes.

The co-director of the Stanford Computer Security Lab, Dan Boneh, reiterated that sentiment by saying that his cryptography classes are red hot.

How red hot you might ask?

Well according to Boneh, there are over 1 million people signed up for his online class.

Yes you read that right, over 1 million!

However it's not just a west coast thing and it's not just a Stanford thing.

Others are taking notice as well.

Carnegie Mellon announced that they just hired a cryptography expert from Microsoft Research to help build out their program.

But that's not all.

The University of California and MIT also have offered cryptocurency related classes in the last couple years and they are immensely popular.

Back in 2015 Boneh said that he first started teaching a class on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and it easily attracted over 100 students.

At that point he knew it was time to expand.

As mentioned above, his online class that he teaches through Coursera now numbers over 1 million students.

I'd say there is pretty strong demand!

This news comes on the heels of Peter Theil saying that the potential of bitcoin is bigger than what even some of the biggest bitcoin bulls think:

That wasn't the only big news of the day, however...

Also, CNBC reported earlier that according to Freelancer.com there has been an 82% surge in bitcoin related jobs in the 3rd quarter alone.

Which makes it by far the fastest growing industry on the freelance website.

Basically these statistics are just summing up what we already know...

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is absolutely booming!

There is no guarantee that these things will be around long term, but each day that goes by that they don't go away, and the more money and people that come into the space, the likelihood of them going away gets smaller and smaller.

Stay informed my friends.

How much are these courses? I’ve had a look but they don’t talk about cost. It seems you need to sign up for that.

I worked it out. Seems you can take the course for free but need to pay £60 to get a certificate. Well worth a look.
