What is Origin?
Excerpt from the Developers
"Origin is a platform for asset trading and management. With the decentralized scripting system, it is possible to run a marketplace as well (one is planned, known as the ADM) where other goods and services not specifically included in the token system can be traded. Origin itself is just a mine-able coin, but the platform that it powers is what really makes it special."
Where can I buy/sell Origin?
Origin is still currently in BETA and has not yet been released on an official exchange, however, a decentralized exchange where you can trade Origin for Bitcoin Token will be coming out soon. Right now, you can buy the coin from the developer's website, and sell the coin in the OraTrader Discord
How can I install it?
Download the latest Origin-#.##.#-BETA-shaded.jar from the developer's bitbucket
Once the Origin-#.##.#-BETA-shaded.jar file is downloaded, create a new folder named Origin on your desktop (if you do not have one already), and place .jar file inside.
Rename the file from "Origin-#.##.#-BETA-shaded.jar" to "Origin.jar". (If you do not see the .jar file extension in your Windows Explorer, do not worry. Just rename this file as "Origin")
Now, you will need to create a .bat file. To do this, right click inside the Origin folder where the .jar file is located.
After right clicking, select "New" in the drop-down menu and then select "Text Document". Rename this document as Origin.bat and change the file type from ".txt" to "All files".
Once you have Origin.bat in your folder, right-click the file and select "Edit".
Copy and paste this into your Origin.bat file:
java -jar .\Origin.jar pause
Save the file, and you can now double click Origin.bat to run the client. Once the client is launched, it will begin the initial setup. Please don't worry if it seems like your client or computer freezes as the GPU will benchmark itself for optimal mining values, and new folders are being created.
Upon opening the Origin wallet/mining client, you will be prompted to enter a password. Please enter a password, and DO NOT FORGET IT. You will NOT be able to recover your keys if you forget your password or type it incorrectly.
Now you can set up the pool client to pool mine
First, you will need to save your Address in order to mine from a pool. This is the same address that is within your wallet. If you cannot find your address, please open the addresses folder, found in your Origin folder, on the addresses.origin file, And on the drop down menu select Open With > Notepad.
Copy the entire address and save it to a separate text document if you would like. It should be something like this: 127nNn/nnnNnN9nNnNNnNn9nnnNNn9Nnnn99NNnN==9999
If you would like to mine origin in a pool without using the command line, just download the Origin Pool.exe from here
Create a new text document by right clicking inside the folder where your Origin-17.0-BETA-shaded.jar file is located. Now, right click on your newly created file and select Edit.
Copy & paste this into your Pool mining.bat file:
java -jar .\Origin-YOUR VERSION HERE-BETA-shaded.jar -md -pd -bd -pool
pause
Click "Save As", name the file Pool mining.bat and change the filetype from ".txt" to "All files" before pressing Save.
Open your pool mining client by double clicking on Pool mining.bat and you should have a new tab in your Origin Client named Poools. Select this Pools tab if it's not the currently active tab.
There will be a "Pay to Address" line, this is where you need to paste your previously saved (steps 1 & 2) address into, or else you will not receive payouts.
In the second box delete what is there and paste this. Click connect, Enable "Auto-mine on reconnect", Disable PPLNS, go to the Mining tab, and click start mining.
