Look What I Got!

So my Antminer A3 arrived today! Exciting right? Well it is if you have a power supply.... I managed to get my hands on two smaller PSU's so I have 2 of the 3 boards running right now. I will try and get my hands on a third PSU in the morning because I feel like this weekend is going to be all the profit I'm going to get out of this purchase.

I'm a bit choked about the PSU not arriving, the mining rig travelled from China in two days while the PSU took a full week from an hour and a half drive away. Pretty frustrating but I'm doing my best to get the most out of this situation.

I'm hashing between 550-600 GH/s with just the two boards and I'm earning a little more than 1 Siacoin per minute. I'm hopeful the difficulty remains fairly stable over the weekend since fewer people should be receiving new units but I expect a big drop in profits on Monday.

The mining rig is amazingly loud but I can't hear it from the bedroom so that's a huge plus.

Since profits are dropping so quickly I think I'm probably just going to resell the miner. As much as I want a second mining rig, I just can't say no to the crazy resale right now.

So, now SIA costs $0.048764 AUD as I know A3 costs arount 2700 US dollars, what is approximately 0.06 AUD. What makes it 86 AUD per day. Wow it is pretty good, so you will cover your costs in about 30-40 days if the price will stay around 4 cents. Not bad, not bad.

Hopefully I'll be mining even more tomorrow!

I feel bad for all the people that bought the ShitCoin ( I mean SiaCoin) miners from bitmain. The coin has been around for quite a long time and really has never broken above the 1k sat price before (ATH was 844 I think).

I really hope you can offload the miner an recoup some of your costs. SiaCoin will never moon and is of the same tier as DogeCoin. I wish you luck. If you are interested in projects like this, I would recommend StorJ over SC anytime.

I think the distributed cloud storage projects do have value. Even if I keep the miner I can always just trade the coins for other coins that have more upside.

I am leaning towards just selling but having a miner for a few months making $20+/day is pretty tempting right now.

The real question is how does the release of the A3s affect the difficulty of mining the coin.

Consider this chart and the green area that is almost going exponential.

Over the last 7 days the network hash rate went from 470TH to almost 6400 TH.... If this trend continues I suspect you are looking at a decrease of 1/2 the mining value almost per week at the current trend line.

I really hope it plateus somewhere, but I have no idea how many miners bitmain made... so its very hard to tell.

The noise is worth it !

We got ours as well and it's running great! But I agree with you on your point that it will likely drop soon. Hope it holds up but time will tell

I can't see it holding over $20/day for long.

Are you planning ontrading your Sia out? or keeping them for the long haul?

I'm still undecided. Was thinking on trading to hodl either ICX or EOS.

I am thinking of holding half and then looking at EOS.
Good Luck and happy mining :)

EOS, so hot right now.

I don't mine so I have no idea how noisy an antminer can really be, but I heard it's noisy as hell. Anyways, I hope you get enough ROI for your efforts.

How much heat does it produce? thinking of picking some up for next winter

Depends on how many you have, the ones in the picture I attached are in a room thats aprox 400sqft. they keep the room very warm. The Antminer's are very loud, that is more of an issue for us. We have some Eth miners which are not near as loud and give off much less heat.
We dont need to heat the space at all and its below freezing outside.

I have a garage that stays at around 6 degrees Celsius but can be colder if I open the doors and windows. The noise shouldn't be too bad from in there I don't know the exact square footage either.
Do you need a lot of internet data to run those or can 300GB a month with speeds of 25MB/s be enough?

That will be fine but you should check on your rates for electricity. They take a bit of power to run all the time.
Here is a link you can play around with to see how the numbers look etc...

My boards are running at 75-85 degree Celsius. Runs a bit hot.

Very nice

ohhh my words this machine is absolute beast. what is return on investment for you?

If someone can get them to operate quietly and with less electricity, they will have a hit product on their hands!

Hi @letshodl Thats good man So how much it cost you ??

$2375 fro Bitmain
