[dtube] Is Ethereum Doomed to Fail?

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago  (edited)

Paul says "There still seems to be only a few really killer apps on Ethereum at the moment (Cryptokitties, maybe some others). Do you think that Raiden and Plasma are Ethereum's last throw of the dice? Does it have a future if these fail to gain traction?"

Isn’t ETH still in the early stage of blockchain technology? Isn’t it too early to even think about being doomed? I believe ETH along with bitcoin will eventually reach this mass adoption people are screaming for, but Ethereum also probably has the clearest way to get there. There are other competitors such a EOS or IOTA. You can say the same about euro 💶 and dollar 💵 or Google and Bing. That’s ok to be competitive, the market has still so much to grow. Enough space for all three of them.

lol never

If ethereum was doomed, it wouldn’t be already here the way it is. Your point why ETH is here to stay make sense. Especially when it’s all at the early stage. Usually these projects need about a year to be put on the map. As you said mid 2019 makes totally sense. ETH is like a bitcoin. Why do you think bitcoin is at 8k and other bitcoin forks are far away except perhaps it’s biggest rival bitcoin cash. To much is involved in bitcoin as well as in ETH. Competition is always great, but these are the leaders.

No. As another answer mentioned, there are ICOs being created using Ethereum every hour. Additionally, upgrades to the Ethereum network are being implemented as we speak . Finally, Ethereum is moving from PoW to PoS relatively soon.

I really liked your explanation on this. As you explained previously Ethereum is a pretty solid coin even without an app on it. In fact a case could be made for it being the most dependable coin in the cryptosphere.
For a lot of Ethereum investors the charm lies in the fact that it is the building foundation of so many other altcoins. It has a complete market for it and has one of the highest trading pair volumes.
Sooner or later an app could come along and we all hope that it would be sooner rather than later. It takes time to develop a quality product and with time an app would shine from it

It may be rather too soon to answer that outrightly. It has been a struggling period for Ethereum community lately. The ills are these; transaction traffic on Ethereum Blockchain is painfully slow due to ever increasing ICO traffic much which are fraudulent.

Considering security, the Ethereum community is hugely divided. Also, ETH actually has no real-world use cases. But one thing is that the switch from POW to POS may bring a new turn to things. I believe all ills could still be handled amicably for a better experience.

Yes i believe it still has a future even without those, you need to understand that you have to look into the usability as well as the application of the cryptocurrency. When you are able to look at the usability and application of cryptocurrency, thereafter only it would become easier for you to understand how its value can appreciate. When you’re looking at Ethereum, you would realize that it is underlying capability that is it provides decentralized processing power as well as bandwidth. Owing to this very reason, Ethereum is much different as compared to the other tokens which are just a token for investment. This also means that the value of Ethereum would increase in the future.

way too early to stick a fork in anything in the cryptocurrency world outside the scams and garbage projects that were deemed to fail from the beginning.

ETH is not my favorite token although. There is upside in it because, as you said, the development is just starting. People need to give it some time.

Don't give up yet with ETH , it might suprise you , my husband believes in it , if it is doomed , then its a lesson learned that's the way it goes in life @louisthomas

Gotta guess not doomed at the moment :-)

It's tough being patient. I hope you're right about mid-2019. I'm sure Ethereum will be successful. It's an exciting project.

It's still very early, however for the crypto space to move forward I do believe we need some more dapps that bring utility to consumers other than games. At the moment there is a lot of hype but little substance which allows for FUD to be easily perpetrated. Here is to hoping these projects deliver soon!

I know the eth has been facing lots of challenges lately but I feel we should just keep our fingers crossed because e can't predict the future with 100 percent certainty. Anything can happen.

I think it still too far from catastrophe, so don't panic, paranoia is not good

hello dtube man.how are you.

i think it is too early to think that
plasma and raiden surely can make some difference

Awesome

Ethereum recently had scalability issues and its price fell more than I expected, the change from POW to POS looks very interesting. Ethereum has a lot to show yet.
