IMO naming is absolutely critical: it's like 101 in marketing :-)

Of course it matters, the name is an important part of the image of a cryptocurrency and this affects considerably in a speculative and volatile market as this.

The name itself could define whether a cryptocurrency will succeed or fail.

Great analysis , love your videos
A name does matter, it attracts more and more people just like Netflix, Facebook and all the others you mentioned..
Thank you for this

Value matters more than the name :)

Yes it's matters but we got funny name of "Dogecoin" and we got a lot of old memes with a "doge" so in like 2015-2017 dogecoin was so popular, but nowadays as meme get olds dogecoin is getting weaker and weaker. Also "Ripple" is so catchy

I always consider the name before investing really.

I love Neo, though I admit it initially held me back since I related it with a matrix fanboy kind of project, but going beyond that: it is an easy, simple and catchy name. Neo as in the meaning of new, does have significant relevance and I can really see a name like that becoming mainstream.

Steem has a very strong brand name, Iota is certainly one of the best, monero is easily relatable as slang for (digital) money which helps it's popularity.

Litecoin is ok, though it's name kinda always places it as Bitcoin's little brother.

Verge is not bad, potential to be a strong name but no clear relatability to me, like monero.

EOS, meh.. kinda reminds of apple and not a bad name for an OS but not so great for a currency.

NEM, not great.. though I like the New Economy Movement it stands for, the logo always seemed kinda boring to me.

Lisk, never liked the name, I had high hopes for the rebranding but they kept the name, logo is ok but not spectacular.

Cardano, too many sylables, too.. Italian, maybe? trading under ADA, also not doing it for me. With nothing to really show for I can easily see this become a forgotten coin.

I'd say that it does. Some of the alts have very, very cringy names. Perception is reality:

The name of a crypto doesn't really matter that much, what matters is the project but a really really cool name can be a tool for success with PR.

Thanks for that info on this crazy world of crypto .. cheers buddy

Branding and naming is absolutely crucial and a team that pays attention to the name of their coin is also demonstrating their professionalism and competence. After all what is the point in having your "bleeding edge" technology represented by a rubbish name.

Yes name matters but it contribute a little the main thing is supply of currency which set its price and value.price make it as a brand name.

I would say that name does absolutely matter. The name itself is in a way its own marketing and depending on the name can cater to a certain audience . A great example of this would be something like CarVertical.

Well I think the name matters the most. People are attracted to the name and not the quality of the name. Like everyone knows Bitcoin for example. But not everyone knows the fall it is going through. If Bitcoin is falling at an alarming rate yet people will say BTC is the best. It's the name of the Bitcoin that people know.

Absolutely! There are lots of coins/tokens with dumb names out there. I very much doubt they'll become mainstream, even if the technology and team behind are solid. Name matters a lot.

I do feel name is important for a couple reasons.

  1. You want the name of your crypto to be something catchy and easy to say/spell. This will help with spreading the word, and word of mouth advertising. Having a really long name that is hard to pronounce and spell will make this difficult...or more difficult at the minimum.

  2. The name should be something that speaks to the type of coin, and what the coin will do. Litecoin is a good name imo, because it is like Bitcoin, but faster and easier to transfer to another person.

Branding is always an important part of any product...and this remains the same for cryptocurrencies.

It sure does. I wouldn't trust a coin that uses another coin's branding. Technically that's stealing. This tells me they're not doing anything different and can't do anything of their own.

I'm not going to put money into "FartCoin"

Very useful for me to this day @louisthomas
I think it's a great Analasis about success and the brand name Cryptococcus is it essential for brain and mendefisinikan success.
Thanks to its analysis

Name is only important to grab attention, underlying utility always wins. Google is a perfect example of this.

Yeah name & brand are definitely huge, especially in this speculative market where many people don't care of the tech. Great examples how to NOT brand your cryptocurrency are htmlcoin, 0x, iExec RLC & anything that includes the word "token" in it.

depends what you are in it for , if your in it to make money and lots of it course you will go for bitcoin, etherum, litecoin, and avoid dogecoin and probably the new bunny coin that is out , but people may laugh at the cute named ones but who knows what will happen to the price of them too
