Can Cryptocurrencies Remain Ethical in the Long Run?

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago

Agere asks "Considering the ethical issues some have with XRP, do you think that crypto can remain 'ethical' in the long run? With so many big players wanting a piece of the pie it got me thinking, 'what's stopping big investors from owning a small fortune of one crypto and have a large influence in its performance?', for example".

Another great interview! Agree! Bitcoin survived despite off every attack from left and right. People love crypto! People are humans, which means greed, speculation... is involved. Where these kind of things are involved, it’s always tempting. It’s only up to you if your mind gets taken in by manipulation, you should do your own research and not to rely on others opinions. You can hear them out of course.

That’s true! However, we still should be cautious, the downtrend may not be over yet. Recently I did my own research on EOS thanks to recommendations from different steemiens. I liked it and my research got me in.

nothing can stop avery big whale from doing exactly that. There can be a sort of manipulation in every coin and especially sincethere are no regulations. When we will have to face regulations and there isnoanonymity then and only then we will talk for ethics

I've read so much about Cambridge Analytica and similar organisations! It's such a fascinating topic how these organisations with power and a broad reach can influence the cognitive behaviour of a complete community of people.

Phenomena like what Cedric says (and wow, both of you are one of a kind in smarts) are OneCoin, Bitconnect. It's interesting how such a massive amount of people can fall into such things, but it's nothing new and has been happening from the beginning of society. I think that most of what is in politics is a macro-view of this phenomenon.

This is one of my areas of study, so forgive my enthusiasm hahaha

If we are to trust the current state of the world as a positive simulation of what tends to happen in a human-run free market, then we can safely assume that there will be many major coins in the future that will be centralised and will have doubtful/controversial features such as Ripple's centralisation and Dash's lack of transparency.

Cryptocurrencies can not be totally ethical because they are used by human beings, what we can do is create laws and incentives that make their use as appropriate and healthy as possible.

Also remember that morality is subjective, should cryptocurrencies have to remain ethical based on what? Western society, Hindu society or Chinese society?

In my opinion, If we truly want to see cryptocurrency go mainstream regulations are what it is going to take.

do you think that crypto can remain 'ethical' in the long run?
I believe that crypto will remain ethical, humans don't accept change in the very beginning, we have a lot of history to validate this, it takes time to accept the change and I think same is the case here, crypto is gonna touch the stars as soon as we will accept the change.

Yeah that's right, it's highly likely that whales will be manipulating cryptos when mass adoption knocks on our door. (This is already happening anyway, this is the market.) But that's the case with fiat currency, central banks and billionaire investors anyway.

Like all those institutions warning people how crypto can be used for illegal activities. Give me a break! Like we didn't have such issues or criminal activity funded with fiat currency all those years.

what's stopping big investors from owning a small fortune of one crypto and have a large influence in its performance

Lack of regulation is what is stopping big investors, too much money is simply tied up in markets which is making it impossible for it to grow into cryptocurrencies. Those with billions of dollars have their hands tied and unable to enter crypto markets without the regulations.

The concept of cryptocurrency creates a new standard of systemic fairness that ethically dwarfs fiat currencies. Transaparency and accountability is built into the system. Ask Youtube about the benefits of the Blockchain technology, which underpins Bitcoin and Ether. Your ethical take on it may evolve dramatically. The point of view you currently hold on the association of black market and drugs is a mainstream slandering of cryptocurrency to deter mass adoption.

You have to give regulations on cryptocurrencies to avoid this type of events and bring more people with the generated trust.

Of course, there will always be someone "clever" who wants to break that confidence and take advantage, but it would be a matter of minimizing those events.

I mean why not. As you also mentioned we too share a responsibility of it and we have far more control on it than the traditional money. I think this one would go to the good guys

That's a very interesting topic, although do people really care about this now? Most early adopters are interested in making money I suppose, so what if it's not the most ethical coin/token.. right?

Crypto currency has been in war against dollar and dollar has lost the battle . Some big investors are coming in, Sony is coming in soon, Some banks have declared their involvement in crypto currency. Thanks for enlightening

If you own a big stake in any crypto, then i bet your main interest is that the crypto currency remains ethical and doesn't create any controversies that could get it sanctioned or banned because it could put your whole investment in danger if it engages in shady dealings.

Nicely said! The company hired by Trump organization did obviously great job. Afterall they contributed to his success. Bitcoin has its own success despite all these outside attacks. It will grow and even governments get used to it. They will eventually adopt.
BTW: rule #1: don’t complain and don’t trust anyone!

amazing video @louisthomas

Great ur article , I like ur post for a useful information , good luck my dear friend @louisthomas 👍👍😃
All the best for you 😃😉

Every good thing can be abused.
Nothing's stopping them, it all depends on the application. Anything can be good if it's application is good

Well said @louisthomas, all crypto have done a great job.
Bitcoin is the most beautiful and it is something that introduced the concept of crypto. It is like the best and the one which made it popular.
I hope this is going to me like that.
I really appreciate your efforts and time you are making so many videos for us.
These collaboration they are really interesting and informative.
I hope steem rises good this year.

great shared dear sir
bitcoin seems to gold day by day.its really worthy ,,its ethical no doubt
its world wide important

Cryptos have been growing since 2009. Investors have a lot of interest to invest this platform as they are gainer. Others platform isn't as profitable as crypto platform. Even we talk about the security then we know how secure blockchain is...no others platform is as secure as blockchain. So we can say cryptos is our future.

I don't see that to be an issue because Bitcoin is the only crypto currency that is been used as a basis of controlling the rest crypto currencies. And if big corporations decided to buy a huge portion of a particular currencies that currency will be seen as been manipulated and the masses will dump it . Which will lead to a big drop in the price of that currency @louisthomas

its world wide important ,,
present world depends on crypto of huge area..
in future it will king ,,so its should be ethical ,,
great article

The decisions were very beautiful, the long-term players did not have the performance, they changed people due to financial problems

Since Bitcoin and cryptocurrency market are closely related and closely related to each other, the two houses are in the right pace to coordinate together bitcoin price is currently above 4.5 percent of the usd price. If this continues, then it is expected that Bitcoin will be a good job and from here the cryptocurrency market The amount of profit a large amount can be because of the reason.

Since 4.5 percent of the market is going well, it is understood that the number of investment is going up a lot and if we can now invest in cryptocurrency from bit sbd to bitcoin, then we will have a lot of profits because we are now dependent on cryptocurrency.

for long run
it would be ethical..
i remain future world will lead world ..
i think it should ethical

You have always discussed cryptocurrency, which is very important in the community because the comedy is dependent on cryptocurrency, since you are researching and discussing cryptocurrency, it is very important and important role for the members.Cryptocurrency is a good market for investing, bitcoin price requires a good market by leading it, through which those who do investment will get better and there is a very good amount from that which will play a very good role for our community. It is hoped that if there are situations where the cryptocurrency market is present, ie the situation in which Bitcoin market is going on, then the number of investment will continue to grow and our community will be in a very good condition.

it can , but one of the largest barriers to mainstream adoption is the price volatility of cryptocurrencies.
So the question is, why do the prices change so much in the first place? It comes down to supply and demand: Most cryptocurrencies have only a fixed total supply, and yet demand for the coins is uncertain and constantly fluctuating thanks to speculation.

Considering the ethical issues some have with XRP, do you think that crypto can remain 'ethical' in the long run? With so many big players wanting a piece of the pie it got me thinking, 'what's stopping big investors from owning a small fortune of one crypto and have a large influence in its performance?', for example".

@louisthomas sir hopefully this year and will touch 18$

Great discussion. I learn a lot from your video.

thanks for your valuable and informative video.
We can take out a lot of information by your video.
@resteemed and upvoted

Well as a matter of fact there will be issues in crypto but we should be careful in all the situations and there is no business where few people wanted to get in and manipulate by their own will.So the Crypto is that kind of market as well.

Thanks for the point outs buddy !

if cryptos succeed it seems to me that the crypto-rich will get richer while the poor will go poorer. It's the worst scenario imaginable for an economy. Yes, us early adopters will be okay, but what about the rest?
