For a long time now, I've been talking about "blue chip" cryptocurrencies. The larger and "safer" (in perception, at least) cryptocurrencies that are likely to attract the greatest amount of investment from institutions.
In the past few days, we've learned about the Amun ETP that will soon be launching in Switzerland, and we can also see which cryptocurrencies they have chosen to offer to investors.
I believe this gives us a strong indication of which cryptocurrencies the institutions themselves perceive to be the "blue chip" cryptocurrencies that will benefit from all of this investment.

I agree as they need more liquidity as well. In addition, the custodial services needed will probably be in the blue chip assets you mention and some others as Coinbases, for example, has already stated that their custodial services will cover up to 30 assets despite not listing then from the start.

I agree with sticking with the blue chippers. It will be interesting to see if LTC gets a big shift ahead from people overweighting that one creating a chain reaction. I think ZCash will probably get in the formula as they have an incredible development community.

Institutions will find great solutions that can solve a lot of problems in their companies for example the work made by the walton blockchain about logistic, modum for medicine control etc... we have to have balls and hold crypto until the big whales take this market in that moment prices will touch new values. I think there is logic for institutions investing in BTC/LTC as a gold/silver play, XRP as as bridge asset for payments but not sure about Ethereum? I guess the idea is it will be the network for dapps but we still have yet to see a real use-case for a dapp beyond that of trading. Anyway, I hope Ethereum sorts it out as a hodler!

I wonder how their allocations may have changed since the Bitcoin Cash fork. If they are choosing ABC over SV or both, or drop it all together. Traditional institutional investors don't like uncertainty.
Also, I would think that they would expand that list of investing targets as they (and their clients) get more comfortable with cryptos. The market will likely mature once the bottom is in and the market turns. They'll see more interest in crypto from clients and there may well be better and more understandable metrics for their clients, we'll see more identifiable 'sectors' etc.
