Those are just people looking for excuses. In fack, most popular accounts don't even have any background on youtube.
It's not easy to be very successful here on steemit - but it's the same everywhere else. Not everyone has the character, brains or creativity to do it. That's just life.
What sets Steemit appart is that not only can you get rewarded by creating content but also by supporting other people, commenting etc. There is a lot of people who does just that and they are able to accumulate a lot of SP just by commenting.
The best though would be do both at the same time :)

I think Steemit incentivises people to create quality content (even people like me that always thought social media was a waste of time) and engage with Steemit crypto-economy community.

As long as you invest a bunch of money into Steemit, you'll do fine. You could easily self-vote yourself to the top, and then all the 3rd worlders will up-vote you in droves, and leave comments like: "nice post!" in an attempt to get an up-vote. The system is really easy to game actually. 🐳

Yep. Nowhere else does the entertained party get to be rewarded. You can find any information you want on here, and in theory get paid dividends just for social interaction. At the least. If you're good and serious no doubt you make money. How many that say they failed actually put in the time? I'd say 0%

Interesting video!
I think everyone should not just focus on putting out great content, but also take time to consume and interact. This is a great community! The focus is very much on making money for most people when they start (including myself), while actually there is so much more here.
I hope in the near future we will be able to attract more people to Steemit for consumption than for creation. Should create a vicious cycle of more 'readers/interacters' that contribute vs 'creators/money makers' that create relatively bad content and don't bring real value :-)

It makes sense to assume "the more people know you, the better you will do on a new platform". I got 120 followers in a month, only thanks to my YT audience and not because what I write or post is popular on Steemit. Others I brought in, struggle to get a few followers since they have nothing to be noticed.
Everybody does better with promotion and advertisement. Whether it's shoutouts or resteems or tweets, the more others help you spread your content, the more popular you become. And for that you need a pre-existing fanbase or be veeeery patient while you slowly build one.
I was growing my fanbase for 5 years before joinning Steemit, and I still have only a fraction of them here. It's not much but it's a good early push.

"Success is what comes after you stop making excuses".
If you have the creativity and if you work hard, people are going to acknowledge you. You will start seeing results no matter what.

I think that obviously a following will transfer, and having subscribers on YouTube will make a steemit account easier to get going, however persistence is the key in my opinion. You can write an amazing article and get no support if you don't put any effort into integrating with the community, however if you take time regularly to write posts and interact then you can create a decent following.

Steemit is for everyone but only the smartest creative and the most patient survive. I had given up on steemit last year. My account's been inactive for 4 months. So i thought i should give it a try once more. Hard work pays. Nothing comes for free. Even the ones poping millis on steemit and getting countless upvotes had to work hard for it. Although at times you just have to be smart enough to get a whole bunch of mourons to upvote a post that doesn't even make sense.

Well done mate. People like your posts because they like you. And if you're lucky enough to make some money out of this, then even better. Just keep up what you're doing, people will stick around.

Here's what I know. Some people get lucky, yes. They do something that happens to go a little viral, and then they can ride the wave. But for most people, building an audience and a following takes hard work. Dedication. Patience. There aren't shortcuts. But I do believe it's possible. I'm in it for the long haul. My goal is to produce quality, interesting content and to share my story. Ok, keep up the good work. Cheers.

I posted about the whale issue .... But I think that coming on steem to find " or hunt " a whale is not fair play .
I mean are we not here in the first place to change social networking and follow this whole new system that goes along with the blockchain ?
I have no youtube account , I have nothing really special and outstanding but the purpose of building another world for the future of my child .
Let whales be whales , no backthoughts , just do what you like and what your passionate about :)

In finance, a futures contract (more colloquially, futures) is a standardized forward contract, a legal agreement to buy or sell something at a predetermined price at a specified time in the future. The asset transacted is usually a commodity or financial instrument. The predetermined price the parties agree to buy and sell the asset for is known as the forward price. The specified time in the future—which is when delivery and payment occur—is known as the delivery date. Because it is a function of an underlying asset, a futures contract is a derivative product.
Contracts are negotiated at futures exchanges, which act as a marketplace between buyers and sellers. The buyer of a contract is said to be long position holder, and the selling party is said to be short position holder.[1] As both parties risk their counter-party walking away if the price goes against them, the contract may involve both parties lodging a margin of the value of the contract with a mutually trusted third party. For example, in gold futures trading, the margin varies between 2% and 20% depending on the volatility of the spot market.[2]
The first futures contracts were negotiated for agricultural commodities, and later futures contracts were negotiated for natural resources such as oil. Financial futures were introduced in 1972, and in recent decades, currency futures, interest rate futures and stock market index futures have played an increasingly large role in the overall futures markets.
The original use of futures contracts was to mitigate the risk of price or exchange rate movements by allowing parties to fix prices or rates in advance for future transactions. This could be advantageous when (for example) a party expects to receive payment in foreign currency in the future, and wishes to guard against an unfavorable movement of the currency in the interval before payment is received.
However, futures contracts also offer opportunities for speculation in that a trader who predicts that the price of an asset will move in a particular direction can contract to buy or sell it in the future at a price which (if the prediction is correct) will yield a profit.
