Substratum is a movement that aims to decentralize the internet as we know it. It aims to change the internet by giving power to internet users at a time they have none. In a Substratum system, users can access network capabilities from other users. There are individuals all over the world that contract their computer serves in exchange for Substratum, or SUB, as a cryptocurrency.
This eliminates the need for internet networks that are highly costing and might not be as fast. It gives more power to the people since individuals pay only the amount of bandwidth they use. It is safe to say that this method costs far less than the fixed rate most internet companies change, especially since those rates keep increasing although the internet and the typical consumers internet usage remains the same.
Not only can the users benefit from Substratum engines, but it also benefits the individuals contracting their hardware. Contractors can control how and when they work and how much of their processing power sell to users.
There is much talk about Substratum lately since this theme is currently undergoing a public beta test. It is highlighting many benefits and exciting the lot of potential users and contractors that are becoming more familiar with substratum. If this method is adapted, it can, without a doubt, decentralize the internet. The way we pay for web browsing and web hosting today can be seen as obsolete when compared to the SUB way. Over countless years, the old way has not shown any changes that benefit the users in any way while the best feature of Substratum is that it is better for users.
Not only is Substratum better for web users, but it has started an industry for web contractors. Anytime jobs are being created and people are paying less for the same service or paying fairly for the services they use and nothing is going to waste, the world is being changed for the better.
That is what substratum is. A positive change in web usage and hosting for the world.

Wohoo! Bring on the SUB posts! :) May I only correct, that they are not yet running a "public beta", which is unfortunate communication from their side. They are currently running a private beta with a handful of users and we all hope, that the beta will soon go really public and more people get their hands on it! If this happens and they deliver, SUB will have a great view back on the moon, where it only stayed for a short while to say hello :)))
