Embercoin to become Chartis (Proof-of-Burn)

News is finally out about the future of the infamous Embercoin, a wild staking entity with a mixed history and reputation.

The team has completely restructured and basically nothing will remain of the old Embercoin but the existing holdings. Which will be converted on voluntary basis (proof of burn) into the new entity called Chartis. Details for this are to be announced later this month.

Ember will probably not die but continue as an unsupported zombie coin for a while until/if someone picks the remains and reign up again.

What is Chartis? According to the announcement the new project will in summary be:

"Chártis is the first platform that will track and record the paths and positions of both moving and stationary objects and put them on the blockchain. This includes people, vehicles, buildings, property, satellites, and anything else under the sun.

The positions will be recorded to a distributed ledger behind a private key which ensures each user’s privacy, yet allows for different permission levels among the various user groups, such as individuals and organizations.

The community helps to verify this data through reporting, and will receive Chártis tokens for their efforts. The more consensus that is built around reported data, the more the user and the network benefits."

Interesting stuff and sounds to be a bit like "Pokemon Go on Steroids"

Let's see where this leads. Certainly some novelty value in it and potential innovation for a real world application.
