Altcoin.io is a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange being built around atomic swaps. The most recent update brought some new token support, wallet creation and backup, and atomic swap ! They also added the ability to test out the atomic swap functionality using testnet tokens.

While they say they added "dozens" of new tokens I can only see 17 (I enjoyed the fact that Substratum made the cut. ;] ). I tried out the coin swapping feature, since it's still in beta I had to create 2 separate wallets to manually swap coins between. With both wallets open the entire swap did take a few minutes, but it was overall very smooth and will be even smoother in future updates.

If you would like to try it you will need testnet coins. You can get some test Bitcoin here, or some test Ethereum here.

Upcoming

Planned for the coming month(s) are more token additions, auto order matching & order book, a formal bug bounty to increase security, and the live mainnet launch. Their title of "What’s coming up over the next month?" tells me that the timeline of a month is hopeful, but some of these features may take a little longer.

That being said, I am really excited for the auto order matching. Without this the swapping feature cannot scale. People wouldn't adopt it if they had to start a swap and then post to a forum or messageboard asking for someone to complete the other half of the swap.

I will definitely be watching the progress of Altcoin.io, and will definitely use it when it's released.
