Vitalik's fake death did not cause the fall in Ether~

On June 25, 2017 there was a post on 4chan stating that Vitalik Buterin, the man behind Ethereum, had died in a car accident.

There was also a story on vionews, complete with photograph, saying that Vitalik had died in an car accident in British Columbia.

As the vionews article has since been deleted I am linking a cointelegraph article that includes the vionews article.

That same day, June 25, Vitalik Tweeted proof-of-life.

Also on June 25, Ether, the coin associated with the Ethereum platform, lost $4 billion of its $30 billion market cap. Many associated this with the fake news of Vitalik’s death. However, Ether was already losing value when the post was made June 25.

To be fair, it looks like a market correction.

I'm not saying that news of Vitalik's death had no effect on the price of Ether.
It doesn't seem that the news was the cause of the drop in price, at least not without getting into a whole time-space discussion.
