Today's "free coin" is Yoo-Mi (UME). Yoo-Mi, a project that has already raised over $29M is giving away coins to participants in their "bounty" program, which I consider more of an airdrop contest. After signing up and completing a few minor actions, you qualify to receive free UME coins once the contest ends.
Now let's learn a little bit more about Yoo-Mi. Their tagline is "Your Personal Health Assistant." Stated on their website, "Yoo-Mi PHA is a virtual Personal Assistant powered by infibond’s cutting-edge, psychology-driven Artificial Intelligence technology with a unique ability to assess, understand and empathize with people as individuals." Using advanced artificial intelligence, the UME Personal Assistant will "propose purchase of medical nutrition products based on health assessments."
To be honest, it sounds innovative and helpful, and scary and invasive. This type of technology can save and better lives, but the thought of being recommended "medical nutrition products" based on advanced technology could incentivize the company or others to manipulate the system for their own gain, not to mention the different opinions we all have on what's the proper way to treat our health, from food to natural supplements to drugs.
The Coin
I like to evaluate the actual use of the coin and if it's needed, or even useful in some cases, before spending a few minutes of my time entering an airdrop. If a company has no use for a coin, they shouldn't be using one. I'm slightly skeptical on the need and use of the UME coin for this project. They will use it to give users incentives to fill out surveys and use their system, and also give discounts on purchases. This feels more like a marketing tool than a coin that gives real value to the holder, other than the potential gains from the coin as the company grows.
Potential
Turning fitness and health into a game has already proven to be extremely effective, just look at the growth of the FitBit and related products. If this tool is built to help people more than it is to sell supplements and drugs, it could have a major positive impact, but as you can probably tell, I'm a bit hesitant in declaring Yoo-Mi a company that will change the world in a good way, but I'm willing to wait to cast final judgement until I learn more and see this project in action.
With $29M in funding, and a seemingly strong team and history of experience, I believe the overall potential of this project is high.
Bounty Requirements
To enter the airdrop, visit https://ico.yoo-mi.com/bounty (or my referral link: https://ico.yoo-mi.com/bounty/?ref=2122545), sign up for an account, provide your ERC20 compatible ether address (public key only), and complete a few small actions like joining their Telegram community and following their LinkedIn company page.

Links
As with all projects, cryptos, and ICOs, make sure you are using the right links and not visiting spam domains created as a scam. Airdrops and bounties give free coins in exchange for trying out a new platform, signing up for a newsletter, etc. These are different from ICOs where you are paying money (sending cryptocurrency) in exchange for coins once their sale is complete. What Is Free Coin of the Day?
Free Coin of the Day (FCOTD) is a new effort I'm launching to help other amateur cryptocurrency enthusiasts like myself get involved in cryptos without having to spend thousands of dollars. Each day we'll pick one coin to cover, and I'll give you specifics on how to earn that coin for free. Please upvote this post and follow me if you're interested in joining this new effort.
Get More Free Coins
This is the eighth #FCOTD post. I released a little early since tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I want to spend time with the family instead of posting all day. Past free coins that you may or may not still be able to grab include:
Hey mate thanks for the article, good explanation of an airdrop too.
This coins an interesting one and I'm glad your remain completely unbias and look at both sides because I agree with you entirely.
I used to be a complete fitness nut so fitness/health trackers reaaaally interest me, I used to have one...
But like you said there's a fine line between whether this is actually going to be a project for good or it's more of a marketing tactic to get people to buy particular brands they've partnered with.
I think the assistant looks a bit gimmicky too haha, I think if I were them I'd go with a more generic looking doctor who people could easily identify as one, with a uniform on etc.
Definitely some potential if they don't sell themselves to the devil though ahah

Hey there, of course! Thanks for being a part of this. Yes, I care much more about providing an honest look at a coin than earning a few more because I'm getting people to click a referral link. Airdrops are "free" and only take a few minutes, but in a sense, we're deciding to help market that company, even in a small way, so it's worth considering if you want to support it before signing up.
YES! I thought that too -- that the assistant looks gimmicky.
Great points.
