It's Friday night at 10 o'clock. You rarely tune into the news, but tonight is a special night. This is the moment you've been waiting for your entire life. All of your hopes and dreams are about to come true.

In front of you, 50 small pieces of paper with random sequences of numbers are carefully spread out to allow you to see which one is going to make you the sole owner of $100 million jackpot. Here come the numbers: 4, 17...(sound of crumpling paper as your dreams are shattered).

At some point, we've all played the lottery, entered a sweepstakes, or tried to win the giant stuffed animal at a carnival. We like winning, and the bigger the prize and the lower the cost of winning that prize, the better.

This is where the cryptocurrency market comes in. We've seen 1,000%, 5,000%, and even 25,000% gains in a year. What do these coins do you ask? I have absolutely no idea, but boy, they're website makes it look like a lot of fun. This is a pre-ICO opportunity where they are simply trying to build a base of early adopters so that when they do have everything together, they'll be in a good position to grow.

The website (actioncoin.io) states "Action may be redeemed for member-only discounts on a growing list of products and services offered through our business network." Currently, they have a shop where you can purchase Action branded swag...that doesn't accept their own coins (yet). Here are the details:

Directions: Visit actioncoin.io, and click on "join now." Now create your account. It will take a minute or two and it's pretty painless. You can earn 10 additional tokens for each person you help get on the platform if you're interested in pitching it to your friends.

While I don't know what they're worth or if I will ever use them, I will proudly hold my 1,000 ACTN tokens for now. Token distribution is scheduled for March 1st, 2018, so we should know more at that point if they have value. But for now, it could be worth just signing up and putting these 1,000 coins in your piggy bank for later.

• Sphere

Cool name and logo, and 50 free coins by signing up for a free Sphere wallet, what's not to like? Their upcoming ICO is scheduled to take place on February 12, 2018, but before any coins go on sale, you can get 50 free. The coins themselves are called Social Activity Tokens (SAT). Something about their branding doesn't feel right to me, but for signing up, you can receive 50 free WCX (WCXT) Coins. They brand this coin as "private, secure, user friendly." Don't shoot the messenger with this one, I'm just in it for my free cryptocurrency lottery ticket and passing on the details to you.

If you've heard of Superior Coin (or searched them in Google), you've likely seen controversy among the founding team (it got nasty). Superior coin has moved on and it trying to establish itself in the crypto world. I recently came across the coin here on Steemit and actually got some value out of the coin thanks to their website Kryptonia.io. Here are the full details:

While the actual value of 400 Superior coins is low, for us Steemians the value is much higher. I'll try to sum up Kryptonia in a sentence or two (which runs on Superior coins). You can trade coins in exchange for someone completing a task. For example, you could pay someone 2 Superior coins for upvoting your Steemit post. So even if you don't believe in the future of Superior coin, you can get some upvotes and resteems through this offer, which is awesome.

Why use social media for free when you could get paid for it!? Well, what Steemit has already mastered (in my opinion), onG Social is trying to do, and then some.

Difficulty: Medium

You need to create a full profile and browse around a little before "earning" your $10 of value.

Future Potential: Nothing or Everything

My gut-feeling right now is that this will not work. They have very lofty goals and are trying to compete with gigantic companies who have billions of dollars to play around with. But hey, try it for yourself!

• Steemit (duh)

Steemit gives new users a very limited amount of Steem, and also "lends" new users Steem power to help them get started. If you are reading this article, I assume you probably have a Steemit account. if you don't, get one right now and thank me later.
