    You get upvotes from creating original content (something you wrote yourself) that people think is good.

    After this sprint of plagiarism (and the resulting low reputation), your best bet is to read other people's post and engage in meaningful conversation about the content.

    Even with limited interests and education, you should be able to find something that you actually like, and have something worthwhile to say about it.
