Is coin-base a good exchange ? In my opinion, for beginners - yes! But they lack trading tools and have a very small selection of coins. They only offer bitcoin and a few altcoins. Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, and that's really it. They might be adding xrp soon, though, and possibly ERC-20 compliant tokens (erc-20 tokens coinbase) -- which would be good for beginner cryptocurrency investors ! Also, never keep more than 1000 USD of crypto on an exchange.

    Coinbase WAY overcharges!!! Try another exchange that does not rape you on fees! :)

    I know. I don't really use them. But they are good for beginner investors, you know? Eventually most people move on to binance or kucoin.
