A malware called Smominru is using a National Security Agency (NSA) exploit called EternalBlue to infect computers with the malware. This malware is used to mine the cryptocurrency called Monero. Hackers known as the Shadow Brokers had leaked the exploit and have also supposedly carried out the recent ransomware attack. The Smominru malware had started infecting computers since last May and has mined about $2.1 million worth of Monero ever since. According to researchers, the countries affected by the malware the most are India, Taiwan, and Russia.
