Good Morning Steemians!

Welcome to another Morning Coffee With Jane, today I talk about Facebooks ban on cryptocurrency ads and here's my take on it! There's some of my takes on specific individuals who I feel have abused ads on facebook, and youtube. It's juicy... don't miss out.

Read the Facebook blog post for yourself here.

Thank you all for the support as always,
Jane

It's jealousy.. ignoring reality

if they make no money from it they remove it..who is doing the checks and balances on their side? i think their own ads should be banned sometimes, but they can post and do whatever they want..even their close friends or certain high paid youtube celebrities get away with a lot more than lower ranked channels. def not a fair practice

I think its a lot of things, they are definitely protecting a lot of people.

They hate us cause they aint us lol #humor

Jerry Banfield just spent THOUSANDS of dollars on FB ads for Steemit. Now, with FB new rules, those ads will be banned....

Everytime I watch on youtube , a lot of crypto ads appeared so I guess youtube won't do the same...

Only time will tell

I think its true, Because I can't post any link on fb.

What do you mean?

Facebook and Instagram I can't post links or even a tag associated wit crypto currency. It just doesn't show up when you go to post it.

Hi, want just to say, that, sooner or later, all people will leave other portals. We should only be active to inform and bring as many people as possible on Steemit.

We don't need Ad's. we are Steemian's.

Facebook/Instagram does a lot of post suppression.. Its truly a bias platform. You can easily make a post about something for your followers and Facebook may only allow a certain percent of your followers to see it. They really want you to spend money to "boost" those posts for everyone to see. I get the 'want to boost your post now?"alerts every day. Facebook has it's own agenda.

Awful choice by Facebook @paolajane. If I'm into crypto or bitcoin, I most likely want to see ads about it. Who does Facebook think they are? I'm fairly certain they've also done this with medical marijuana, guns, and other sensitive categories. Apparently a Bitcoin company can't advertise on there, but they don't have an issue with Russia placing ads designed to stroke hatred & division within our country!

...or perhaps Facebook is getting ready to launch their own coin...?

A wide sweep ban is not the answer. But then again crypto doesn't need FB ads

Shows how desperate they are. ;)

You really think its out of desperation?

Whatever their reasoning might be Steem is Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit and much more in one product but decentralized. We have already won.

Absolutely Agree.

Very nic post,i liked you are posts very much,i request to you kindly when you are free then visit my blog.

Thank you!

You guys should forget these people especially Facebook it does not pay but steemit pays. Happy steeming people.

Steem isn't the only crypto out there, it pays to stay informed and to do your research. Steemit is fantastic but I do have my attention split into other areas as well.

it's good that you brought up this topic! it is interesting that Facebook has forbidden advertisement of crypto-currency at the level with advertising of drugs and porn))

Good point! Gives me a lot to think about

I have seen a bunch of ads for trash ICOs on Facebook lately. On the whole, this is probably beneficial for most Facebook users, even if Facebook is trying to position itself to gain most if/when they integrate their own cryptocurrency.

That being said, even if there are bunch of scammy ads on YouTube now by the likes of Tai Lopez, are they any more scammy than his old "Here in my garage" videos, promising lambos and mansions for buying his old courses? I don't really think so, though crypto ones might be more effective ads. YouTube never banned those, in fact everyone has seen them, so I doubt they'll do anything about these new "get crypto rich quick" ones now.

I totally agree with you 100%

Read about it today and only think that he maybe is threatened by the new things that keep popping up. To be honest, I would be too, because plattforms like steem or others will be biger and better than his old one which is more and more exclusive. Those new plattforms keep the spirit on what the internet used to be build and I like it.

Facebook is a beast, they will find a way to come up on top. However I dont think its more of a means of controlling but of protecting users from losing money to scammers. Its not like they are deleting EVERYTHING that has to do with cryptocurrencies.

I wish YouTube would ban crypto ads, but it really just comes from the desire to stop seeing Tai Lopez before every single vid.

HAHA I agree

5:22 - Instagram already does the same, since it's owned by Facebook. Good video!

Haha I didn't even think of it like that, thank you

I'm simply waiting now for FB Coin to show up on the market along with Amazon coin, etc, etc.

Its coming, but I dont think it will be like steem

I think it's a great idea that Facebook wants to combat spammers with shitty adverts but to ban each and every advert for any cryptocurrency is a little extreme. It almost feels like they are trying to devalue all other cryptocurrencies because they are gonna launch their own one soon... Anyways, great video again :)

... it's more than a feeling

Yeah that was my first gut feeling! But then with a bit more research I feel like its deeper than that in the sense that a lot of people have been hurt by these crappy ads.

I just found your blog and appreciate what you're bringing! The censorship of a "free" market on fb certainly makes me uncomfortable. Not allowing a type of ad seems fairly Draconian to me.

We are all hopefully able to make our own decisions, but hey, fb doesn't have nothing on steemit, and over time folks will wake up to how much $ is involved behind the scenes on fb and realize contribution should be compensated.

Keep up the quality posts . Following

Thank you for your support I truly appreciate it!

I think it will affect the crypto money. We all know the power of Facebook and other social medias. They may be cancel the decision after a bit time. We all see.

I think they are pretty set on their decision, and honestly most of what was being promoted were some scammy ICOs.

This is actually a really interesting move in my option by FB.
Firstly, it’s about time they actually started taking action against deceptive and manipulating ads, something that is all too common in advertising and why FB should have never bought into letting ads take over in the first place, it lost its appeal to me as a user friendly network in that respect.
Secondly, what’s really interesting is that Zuckerburg (no funny pun included) has been talking a lot about FB having its own blockchain and coin to back it up with. So does this mean that Facebook won’t be able to advertise its own coin by banning everyone else or is it a clever technique to clean the table before they lay their new jewels out to play with. Either way, I agree that it’s so important to protect people from taking huge risks because someone told them they can earn a huge amount of money easily.
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing Paola!

I think so too! I really think it takes out a sour taste from cryptos..
I completely agree with you

This is weird. I could swear I saw an ad for AdBank this afternoon. You know, the one that has a guy in a centaur costume.

Its ok. Facebook can ban crypto ads if it so wants to. As far as youtube is concerned i don't think youtube will do that. Youtube has already faced a lot of ad related issues lately so i don't think they do that.

Thank you for your input! :)

May be due to too many advertisement of the ico.. of course almost fake among those ads. That's why Facebook ban and i think youtube also doing that in few days.

Thank you for your input and answering my question :)

Yes, it's appropriate for FaceBook to push back on advertising garbage financial products. However, it's a little late. They gorged on ad revenue for years looking the other way while anybody with $5 could sell or say anything. That's how we wound up with Trump. Thanks Facebook for finding a conscience.

I spend a lot of money on Facebook for my gym business and I have a decent following on my business page. I think about all the content I've posted on my page and I haven't received anything in return. That's why I like seem. I agree that the crypto craze got out of hand on Facebook. But I suspect old Mark isn't to happy about platforms like this who may one day challenge him in a major way. What he needs to do is start giving back to his quality content users.

I too also spent alot of money on ads on facebook for my personal training studio, I gained a lot of traction using facebook. Honestly, their ads are amazing and if done right can make your business so much better!
I love steem and yes they pay, however they are two separate platforms and no one wanted a dime from Facebook until they started getting paid from steem. However if they do decide to integrate cryptos, I dont think it will be anything like steem.

Facebook grow up so huge, it is too big to adjust fast, and implement quick very important changes (blockchain technology for example) without dividing its member. Also FB relies a lot on the elderly audience, talking about 30-60 year olds. Those who are <30s they can still learn, adapt, or be capable to learn new crypto movement. Imagine your grandma, which is on facebook trying to teach about blochckain, about Segwits, about crypto etc etc.

Just the actual move of banning the ICOs adds, is the odd one, when M.Zuckerberk mentioned about FB possible blockchain implementation, or even their own crypto coin creation.

As a business person I can tell one thing.... FB has very powerful shareholders, and the only weakness FB has is problem with ROI, when the social network has so many users, and the earnings are so little. This is how shareholders see the whole situation. So maybe this ban of ICOs, or other crypto ads, is the first step into their own crytpo creation....

...well good luck!

I think this is a good thing. The fact that Facebook was appealing to the masses in a way where it is providing delusional advertisement is nonsense. “Want to know which coin is the next bitcoin?” Or “your neighbors are investing in bitcoin, be a millionaire like them?” This attracts the wrong kind of crowd and continues this lack of maturity that we are currently seeing in the crypto currency market. We need people who’ll believe in the tech and the fundamentals of the block chain. And we can accomplish that by good advertisement and marketing, summits, etc. Not that junk we saw on Facebook!

nice post dear

Thank you

Thanks for the info. A really clean, friendly and informative video. Keep it coming!

Thank you so much!

The concept of people trusting ads just because they are on FB (or anywhere else) is crazy! Unfortunately that is probably true for some people. The bad news for FB is many ads are untrustworthy. Are they going to start banning ALL online courses? or ads for banks and insurance companies? They're scammers too, many of them. The list goes on and on.
