Holo - the next wave

Hey folks.

OK, so I'm not a developer, not even in IT.

However I will say that my love of tech, philosophy, sociology/anthropology, sci-fi, and my capacity for observing patterns in nature, society and human beings means sometimes I get a vibe about something, and it turns out OK.

Back in the early 90's I was saying to all my friends that the Internet was going to change the world. No one believed me. I didn't have a computer at the time, and was furiously saving up to buy one with a modem (when 28.8kbs was the standard). My only reason was that I wanted to be on the Net.

I finally bought my PC (Windows 95 😆) with a 33.6kbps dial-up modem built into the machine!!! 🤣 Started playing with building a web-page, and loving that I could write essays with html markup built into them.

Look where we are now....

I remember a friend in the US back in 2001 put me onto Paypal so I could send him some money - send money just with an email?! Are you kidding? This is going to be the next big thing!! Again, telling people about it, no one listened.

Back in 2014 I heard about Bitcoin, when a local Pizza shop of all places had a sticker on their window saying they accepted Bitcoin. I remember feeling the same vibe, and asking people if they knew anything about it. I had the idea that we could start accepting it in our business too. Everyone was like "oh it's just internet money, it'll never take off". I didn't do anything about it. Sigh. Really dropped the ball on that one.

Even when a friend 18 months ago started to explain to me Blockchain technology and what it was and what it meant, I still didn't get involved, although my curiosity was well and truly piqued. Had I bought into BTC back then even.... well!

Anyway, I know a couple of people more involved in this world now, and they know the team behind Holo.

Here is the Holo Blog for updates

And I'm getting the same vibe about this.

I think this is worth getting behind. If they pull it off, this will revolutionise Blockchains.

In short, processing the data using less energy. That's a good thing from my perspective.

Like I said, I'm no techie, so I can't explain the stats. But I think any power efficiency we can develop for this new way (web 3.0) can only be a good thing.

Because, you know, natural resources. We need to keep that in mind.

I imagine it may ruffle some feathers, and some may even disagree with their point. Anyway, thought I would share here for everyone to have a look at.

Yup, I knew it, too, and I hedged when I went to the Bitcoin meeting in 2013. I'm in now, we'll see what happens. Considering the enormous amounts of electricity involved with internet money means that this venture could very well be a sure thing. I'll bookmark the page and research. Thanks!

Awesome post @peterloupelis! It's been a crazy trip for me as well. Holo is truly working towards creating a way for us to "Be the Web!" Where we can host our own data and share our extra computing resources with each other, rather than rely on some uninterested 3rd party. This is the true wave and how information should be handled, by the agent who the information represents. Some very enlightening stuff ;)
