I'm @ppcman from talk.peercoin.net - I'll have interesting and exciting things to share about PEERCOIN
Some interesting data about Peercoin:
- Peercoin was created August 2012 by developer Sunny King
- It was the very first coin to introduce Proof Of Stake (PoS)
- It was initially designed a store of wealth, similar to Bitcoin, with much less hash power needed.
- It has a fairly high transaction fee (0.01 PPC) on purpose. To get rid of dust transactions.
- Transaction Fees get "burned", which means they are taken out of circulation which brings the rareness of the coin. The more it is used, the lower the amount in circulation, so price goes up.
- Simply by holding the coin, allows you to mint 1% of your holdings into new coins over and over again which supports the network and the people who own Peercoin as a bonus!
- Even low powered laptops, tablets, and phones can easily run Peercoin wallets
- Peercoin allows multiple applications to use its blockchain for other things too!
- ....and there's more! A LOT more....
I will talk more in depth about these things. For now, I'd just like to get a post, so every one knows who I am, what I'll be talking about, and what my interests are....

Today, June 12 2017 Peercoin is trading at only $1.93 USD at the moment.
Mark my words, by June 12, 2017, Peercoin is going to be much higher in price, in my opinion, and this initial blog post is going to prove it later. That's my opinion anyway.
While we are talking about the future and price predictions, I probably should say this, which is very important to any one new at investing in cryptocurrencies:
Always do you own research, and make your own decisions. I love Peercoin and believe in it, and you might like it too. How ever, your money, is your money, and what you do with it is up to you. So what I say should not be considered investment advice.

There are 2 ways.
You can buy peercoin from an exchange, send it to a Peercoin wallet, and wait 30 days for your coin to mature. Now the minter will try to mint new Peercoins for you based on how much stake you have (coinage which is number of coins you have, plus how old they are)
Second way, is to mine Peercoin through proof-of-work (pow) with an SHA256 miner. They chose this route to ensure fair distribution of coins which has been going on since 2012

You get the block award, which varies... A good way to see how much blocks are currently paying is to look at a peercoin block explorer and look what the last POW (proof of work) block paid. That's if you are using a SHA256 miner.

Yes it could be reduced, but I don't want it reduced.
Peercoin is suppose to be like a savings account. You only move large amounts, very infrequently. So you would never buy a coffee with Peercoin. What you could do is move $500 in/out of an exchange very quickly.
Also,you never have micropayments with Peercoin. It does not make any sense to transfer less than 0.01 PPC. They do that to keep the blockchain small, and fast.
Look what happened to Bitcoin. They have micropayments and it is ruining their blockchain as a result.
