The age of the transforming mining rig is here! Mining rigs unite.
Joking aside, with my introduceyourself out of the way, I wanted to get into something a little bit personal, and deeper.
Not personal because it's private, but because it resonates with me and I believe with the Steemit community as a whole (I'd like to think we all have a vested interest in the world of cryptocurrencies and aren't here trying to make a quick buck - yes I'm looking at you :D ).
Many of us here are into #mining, though surprisingly enough it's below marijuana when you check out the trending topics! Whether it's Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, ZCash, Steem or even something a little bit quirky like Burst, which uses HDDs (!) - it's always a hot topic.
What to mine, is it worth it, what do I need, and so on. But I won't cover these. There are plenty of guides (see links above) and resources for this around the internet, and many of them go into a lot more detail, then I could hope to cover here. For example @imineblocks not so long ago released a Vlog on all of his different mining hardware and software. Not only does he use a range of software including MinerGate, Claymore, Burst, Nexus, but his office is looking very much like a hardware warehouse with external hard drives, multiple PCs, and rigs all over the place.
However, while many hobbyist miners have rigs like that. There seems to be an up and coming faction of rig porn (excuse my french) enthusiasts - including myself.
You can read about how I created the above mining rig by following the link, but in all honesty, I'm not the only one going so crazy.
Take for example Jeffrey Freeman who used a Thermaltake P5 to create the below beauty that even lights up in the night!
Or TechSupportMacgyver who combined his love of mining with his love of Knex - and that funky CPU cooler. (I'm sure I've seen a Lego one around previously as well)
There also used to be a lot of unique USB miner rigs when it was still profitable for Bitcoin.
These are just a few examples of all the creative mining rigs you can find around the internet with very little searching. Now it's clear we've come a long way from the time of milk crates and food storage racks.
Do you think it's becoming a phenomenon? Is there a business to be had there? Is it just a fad?
Let me know in the comments, and make sure you link any spectaculare mining rigs that you see!
P.S. Don't even get me started on the beauty of mining factories.
