I think KMD has a lot of potential. I recommend reading the white paper but my favorite takes are:
1.) BarterDex(Decentralized Exchange) using atomic swaps. Looking at how much centealized exchanges pocket tgis is key.
2.) DICO (Decentralized Initial Coin Offering) - my favorite part is how a projects' coin is indipendent and doesnt rely on KMD. Even having the choice of taking their blockchain with them at any point. The other good point is how they can chose their consensus algorithm of choice.
3.) Secure network - I like how the whitepaper outlines problems with bitcoin and other consensus algorithm. Most importantly I think notary notes saved on BTC to backup KMD blockchain are a good idea considering how BTC is most secure blockchaib basdd on computer power.
