Minergate Review

Minergate Review - Should you use be using it? (OCT 2017)

Personally, the best miner currently is still Nicehash. Covered it in another post here.
But I see Minergate all over the place now, if you are a beginner and getting started with mining in late 2017, Minergate is all over the place. So here is the true story with miner gate.

As any new miner would, I decided to install miner gate seeing that it has an app for every platform, mobile, mac, windows, linux you name it Minergate works on it! amazing! well not really :(

I ended up even installing it on my Lenovo android phone to mine XMR along with my computers.

I put one i7 machine with 2 GPU's, one macbook pro (luckily I stopped before I burned my macbook) and a couple of other machines.

Initially when installed it showed me Monero XMR as the best currency to mine, regardless of the machine or mobile phone. Minergate would say that XMR is the best to mine. So it began, I ran it for almost 4 days on all the machines.
The end result, I did not have as much XMR mined as I thought I would. So I started to investigate.

One night I hooked up one of my machines to minexmr pool, overnight I could see that I am mining more XMR in that pool than I had been mining at Minergate.

Not satisfied with mining XMR, I switched to other coins, like BCH and DCN (DCN is a good coin still) but again the end result was not satisfactory. Plus the really high withdrawal limits at minergate meant that I had to stay committed to mining to withdraw my coins.

Long story short, I was able to withdraw 2 DCN (value in USD nothing) and 100 BCN (value in USD nothing).
I still have some unconfirmed XMR left, not sure if I will plug in a mine just to able to withdraw.

Overall I am not very happy with minergate. You can try for yourself and see, maybe it works for you.
But with low powered machine, which is what minergate is targeting, I find it useful to mine in pools or to mine using Nicehash.

I am not totally opposed to minergate, as it did let me withdraw the coins I mined. I just found it a little slow, maybe they are eating my hash rate, or they are running the wrong algorithm for my machine.

Hope you liked reading this.

Let me know what you want to hear about and I will review it in my next post!

Thanks for Reading :)

Happy mining!

The problem with minergate is that it is not open source and you earn less there , but if you trust them and don t know how to setup a miner to mine at a pool with low fees , minergate is a good option to start mning.

yes, its good for beginners, but then Nicehash is another good option

Best paying miner out there> NO FEES

I had also a very bad experience with Minergate. I was locked out of my account and it took them one month to respond. Minergate is everywhere because it offers referral system. Facucets and other websites just put their links and users flowing in, other than that nothing special. Waste of time.

true

Minergate is a great pool that will not make you to suffer long from the settings. Mining is easy and simple and you will never need to solve complex issues related to connection to the pool
