Bitcoin Volatility Regimes

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago  (edited)

When is trading interest in Crypto currencies is high volatility is more prevalent. In the charts below I outline two volatility regimes, green being a highly volatile regime and black not. The charts are log scale produced via pandas and matplotlib the x axis is in days from the start date.

What we can see with Bitcoin is that is was in a high volatility regime for most of 2017. That regime has recently ended for BTC and many others - low trading interest is at hand. Things might get more interesting in the Crypto space once we re-enter a green volatility regime - to me that will mean that these Cryptos become tradeable again.

Thanks, that is all for now
