Problem Statement
Most of people are here in the Cryptospace just to get Rich quickly. Many people blindly invest in cryptocurrencies just because their friends are investing in it. Ideally one shouldn't invest in something without knowing anything about it. But given that there are over 1000 cryptocurrencies, it is not easy to keep yourself updated on:
- What is going on with the community?
- Are there any updates to the roadmap?
- Are there any Free Airdrop?
- ...
- ...
- Are there any partnerships or rebranding?
Following key people and news channels on twitter is a good idea but most probably you are only going to know What just happened?
and not What is going to happen?
.
Solution
What is going to happen?
is a definite need-to-know. It is always to good to see everything put together in one place right? Everybody uses CoinMarketCap.com where one can find the current trading price, listed exchanges, graphs etc... But not everyone know that there is one such website for the outlined problem statement too. Many of you might have used it already but for the ones who do not know it is called CoinMarketCal.com
What is CoinMarketCal (Coin Market Calendar)?
CoinMarketCal is a Cryptocurrency Calendar which is evidence based and driven by the community where anyone can add an event by providing proof and the actual source of information. And people in the community can vote on the event whether they consider the event to be REAL
or FAKE
. Voting mechanism make this platform a decentralized one and hence a Company or a Person cannot manipulate them.
How to use CoinMarketCal?
User Interface of CoinMarketCal is quite simple and easy to use and provides various drop-downs in order to limit your search. Search results can be limited by
- Data Range
- Coin
- Category
And also the search results can be sorted by - Last Added
- Hot events
An even becomes hotter when more people voting on the legitimacy of a event
Below is a sample search where i want to see if there are any Airdrop in this month and sort it by hot events first.
Note: Image below is restricted to the first row of the resultset
If we take a look at the first one, 747 people have voted for this at the time of writing and 92% have confirmed that it is legit. I'm holding IGNIS (Not much) currently which i received earlier for holding NXT in Bittrex earlier. I wanted to get rid of it when the price is right for a long time. Now that i see that they are going to do a free airdrop of LELE to the folks who are holding IGNIS on 28th February. I will change my decision to sell and try to hold IGNIS atleast till 28th February. But again i need to check additionally if Bittrex is going to support LELE otherwise i need hold IGNIS in Jelurida's wallet which is not worth the effort since i hold very less IGNIS.
Conclusion
CoinMarketCal can definitely help you with your decision in the cryptospace and It is a good starting place to understand/know about any upcoming events. But i would also suggest doing your own research. I can give you an example on why i suggest doing your own research. I once noticed that an airdrop had a huge number of votes for a very low visibility cryptocurrency. Then while doing more research i understood that people were asked to vote for their event in coinmarketcal and provide a screenshot in order to be eligible for the free airdrop. This does not mean that the event is fake because it is good way of promoting an event instead of spending in ads. Bottom-line is, use coinmarketcal to know the upcoming event and then research accordingly so that you can stay one step ahead than most.
