Buglab – A More Secure Way to Tackle Cybercrime

in cryptocurrency •  7 years ago

Overview:

Buglab is an Ethereum based platform that is helping many organizations to give access to cybersecurity to their online assets and solving the problems of traditional cybersecurity system. The traditional ways of tackling with cybercrime include penetration test which is done by one or two consulting firm which provides a limited advantage to the client. Also, there are bug bounty challenges performed by organizations in which information security researchers fix issues related to the software or online website. This increases the cost for the client as the client needs to pay for each issue detected by the researchers. To get more rewards these researchers go for the quantity instead of quality and thus the organizations do not get efficient cybersecurity solution.

Buglab is providing a solution to the organizations by connecting them with community of certified cybersecurity penetration testers. These testers will be rewarded only if they detect unique vulnerabilities which will in return provide value to the organizations.

Buglab Platform:

Buglab platform consists of two programs: the Buglab Contest and Vigilante Protocol. These programs are explained below.

The Contest:

The organization or the client provide information about itself on the platform and launches a challenge in which the community of pentesters available on the platform can participate. The vulnerabilities identified by the pentesters are assigned a score. Incentives are given to the pentesters based on this score. Vulnerability Timestamp (VTS) will be used to give scores and ranking to the pentesters. VTS will give full score to the pentester who identified a vulnerability first. The pentesters who identified the same vulnerability will get the less score based on their time of detection. Buglab tokens (BGL) will be given to the contest winners.
When the contest ends, and no vulnerabilities are identified then 90% of the cost will be refunded to the client and remaining 10% will go to Vigilante Protocol Reserve.

Vigilante Protocol:

Buglab Vigilante Program is a hacking prevention program. The ethical computer hackers can provide a report on the system vulnerabilities through this program to the companies which are not the customers of this platform. Companies can also provide tips in the form of BGL tokens whenever these researchers will detect a flaw.

Buglab Platform Features:

Some features of the platform are listed below:
• Public Contest: When the organization gives basic information on the platform and initiates the contest. The community then can participate and fix issues for the organization.
• Private Contest: Instead of initiating the public contest, organizations can select a team of pentesters to carry out the challenge.
• Mediation: If the organization find the validations done by the pentester is inaccurate, then the organization can opt to manage the issue by themselves. In this case Buglab will initiate the mediation to solve this problem.
• Leaderboard: The leaderboard will display the ranking list of pentesters based on their experience and work on the platform. This will help organizations to choose the pentesters if they wish to carry out the private contest.
