Weekly Crypto Roundup! Yeehaw!

Source - @rt395 memes!

Welcome to the first Weekly Crypto Roundup. These are some of the stories that caught my attention this past week. Did you hear about them?

The Marshall Islands Will Issue It's Own Cryptocurrency.

On Tuesday is was reported that the Marshall Islands would issue it's own cryptocurrency. The crypto will be called the "Sovereign" and offered as an ICO. Currently the Marshall Islands use the USD as their currency. This comes on the heels of Venezuela releasing their crypto, the Petro recently. I expect this trend will grow significantly this year as crypto gains more legitimacy.

Circle Aquires Poloniex.

This may turn out to be one of the bigger stories of the year because of it's backstory. Circle has been around in crypto for a few years. They are an arm or tentacle of Goldman Sachs that you should know about. In 2015 Goldman led a 50million investment in Circle as a start up.

The Poloniex deal was valued at $400 million and will hopefully bring Polo back from the brink. I always liked their UI the best because it was simple and easy to use. The acquisition should to clean up, beef up and expand Poloniex's offerings.

One thing that stood out from the Coindesk article was this statement by the co-foudners, Jeremy Allaire and Sean Neville:

"We envision a robust multi-sided distributed marketplace that can host tokens which represent everything of value: physical goods, fundraising and equity, real estate, creative productions such as works of art, music and literature, service leases and time-based rentals, credit, futures, and more,"

That is an important statement about where many of us think everything is headed. Everything of value will be stored on a blockchain or successor technology.

Noded Podcast 0.9.0 With Guest Jameson Lopp

Noded Podcast is hosted by Pierre Rochard and Michale Goldstein, two veterans of the cryptoverse. On this episode Jameson Lopp stopped by to talk. Have a listen about big blocks, the Statoshi Project, DEX's and more.

Hedgefund Manager Bill Miller On Bitcoin

I've never heard of Bill Miller, which isn't saying much. I'm happy I have heard of him now though. Mr. Miller is a long time fund manager, now founder of Miller Value Partners which has a fund that is 50%  BTC. What caught my attention about the article was how he viewed bitcoin as a disruptive technology.

“What I observed with bitcoin is that it’s following a very time-honored path of disruptive innovation going all the way back to the printing press, railroad, electricity, radio in the 1920s, biotech, the internet,”

He get's it.

That's it this week. I'll be back next weekend with Weekly Crypto Roundup #2! Yeehaw! (gunshot sound effects)

Remember, I keep telling you, crypto is here to stay. Don't let them FUD you into selling your BTC and legitimate alts! Always DYOR!

Podcasts contain some of the best information in crypto. Noded is a good one as well as Coin Talk and Epicenter.

Just saw the Agoras BTS giveaway... seems like your cup of tea! Too bad the payment for the meetup is kinda low, or else I could get my University involved :P
