Good Times Lie Ahead
I'm writing this post because I'm having a very optimistic vibe about the cryptocurrency sphere at the moment. Everyday I'm seeing more and more news items and videos on Steemit and other social media about cool projects that can help crypto in becoming the new standard for money around the world. It is therefore that I believe that mass adoption is coming closer by the day.
Crypto Is Becoming More Accessible Everyday
Thanks to many amazing people, we're seeing more and more cool apps and systems that make it easier to spend and accept cryptocurrencies.
Let's take a look at some examples:
Bitcoin Cash is going big
First of all, I'd like to look at Bitcoin Cash, because a lot of new projects I've seen revolve around BCH. @rogerkver and the team at Bitcoin.com are doing an amazing job at promoting the adoption of BCH in East Asia, especially in Japan and Korea. Recently, a lot of good news has come from them. For example, last month Roger Ver announced that "Bitcoin Cash is coming to tens of thousands of convenient stores in Japan and you’ll be able to buy anything in the entire convenient store with Bitcoin Cash which means including like paying your electric bill”.
Moreover, Ver announced only a day ago that WeChat - a messaging app with ONE BILLION monthly users - now supports BCH to be used on the app. This means that a potential sixth of the global population will be exposed to BCH. Of course you can't expect everyone to adopt it straight away, but it's still a huge number of people that will know about its existence.
Furthermore, with the creation of Cointext, people can now send and receive BCH via SMS. This means that you don't even need an internet connection to make payments. No hassle with downloading wallets, saving passwords, etc. Just send and receive BCH over SMS with no additional cost. I believe that millions of people in developing countries can benefit from Cointext, since it's so easily accessible, it has low fees, and many people today are already using (fiat) SMS-based payment systems (especially in Africa).
At this rate, I think it's very plausible that BCH will overtake BTC in terms of usage (of course I'm not taking sides here).
PalmPay: Accept Crypto at Zero Cost
The video above explains it all, really. Palmpay is an app that lets any business accept one or more cryptocurrencies. What's also really cool is that the payment is immediately converted to the local currency of choice (on the BitShares DEX: bitUSD, bitEUR, etc.) so that the business doesn't have to deal with all kinds of different currencies and their price fluctuations. The consumer only pays a 0.5% fee, which goes directly to the PalmPay ambassadors in that city.
There are already dozens of ambassadors organizing meetups and having businesses adopt PalmPay in their respective cities. You can become an ambassador too and earn money from PalmPay! Just hit them up on Telegram: https://t.me/Agorise
There's Just Too Much to Show
These were just a couple of examples of how a very small number of people can change the world for the better. We've seen Bitcoin Cash and its supporters efforts to make it the most used currency out there, as well as some great new apps and systems like Cointext and PalmPay. Another great example for businesses to accept crypto is Coinpayments.net, which lets any business accept various cryptocurrencies at only a 0.5% fee.
Another project worth mentioning at last is EOS. Although it's had a bit of a controversial start, it is still believed that EOS will be the new standard for decentralized apps (or Ethereum will step up their game and outcompete them, which is also fine by me). My favorite project on the EOS blockchain is Everipedia: the new rival of the censored Wikipedia.
Do you know of any other projects that will bring mass adoption of crypto closer and closer? Be sure to share it in the comments below!

Truly mass adoption of payment cryptocurrencies will come only when governments will go bankrupt or when inflation will go crazy.

I hope it will come earlier! If crypto can prove itself to be superior, we may very well see an earlier adoption by millions of people.

I hope so . I would be great for all of us in the space. Only problem is the volatility of say Bitcoin. 2k to 20k then 20k back to 5k is a big jump. I think it needs to be more stable for mass adoption to begin

Regardless of the future of BTC in particular, I think crypto in general just needs some years' time to settle down and stabilize. We're still in the very early stages, so that's why it's so volatile and speculative.
Thanks for reading!

Agreed . I don’t think the infighting helps whatsoever though or the hard forks of btc. In order for btc to stabilise there needs to be general consensus
