Burger King is teaming with Waves to create a special token called Whoppercoin – named after the outlet’s flagship Whopper Sandwich burger.
What is The Whoppercoin For?
Burger King intends to use the coin as loyalty coin where you get 1 coin for each Whopper you buy from them. Then, you get rewards for you accumulated coins. Moreover, since the coins are built on the blockchain, you can transfer them and sell them. I like the idea because it is a very creative way of using the blockchain technology. I like it more because it will be bringing the blockchain to the masses. You can read more about the deal in this article.
Waves Has been Very Active
Waves has been very active on many frontiers recently:
It has been hiring talented people not only in the tech branch but in business development and PR too. (sources: 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 )
It has signed deals with big banks and institutions.
It has been making alliances to tackle the business and legal challenges facing the blockchain technologies. See here too
It has been trying to educate people about the blockchain, and advertise it to the masses.
It has been very active in attracting more and more ICO to be launched on its platform. It has even provided a gateway helping cryptocurrencies moving to its platform
Result: Skyrocketing Price
The result of these great efforts are more adoption and alliances and a skyrocketing price. The price of Waves has surged from 1.86$ a month ago to about 5.30$ now. That is a 185% increse, and I believe this is only the beginning. It is currently traded on Bittrex and YoBit in addition to its own decentralized exchange. If the larger exchanges start listing it, it will definitely go to the moon. I am considering to make a good investment in it.
I think You should check it out too, and tell me what you think.

Wow! This deal is taking the blockchain to the mainstream. BBC has just published an article about it :

I haven't eaten at Burger King in years, but suddenly I think I want a Whopper. Haha I probably won't start eating there, but I'm curious to see how something like this will be implemented, and if it will catch on with the average person. Will they realize the value of the coins?
As for Waves, I haven't looked into it very much, but the concept sounds interesting.

Thank you @ethandsmith.
They will use mobile apps for the coins. I think it would be easy to use.

Ok. That does seem like a simple concept. Most other fast food restaurants already have implemented some sort of app for pre-ordering or coupons. I suppose this won't be much different.

Yes, but other than that, it will drag the attention of regular people to the blockchain. Imagine if you were told that you have been told that you have earned some cryptocurrency coins, wouldn't you be interested to learn more about it?

Absolutely. Especially if all I had to do to earn them was order a Whopper, or some other mundane activity that is a regular part of my life. If only we had coins for buying groceries or paying the electric bill.... haha
