Today there are 461 billion USD of imported fake goods in circulation globally, and in China especially there are frequent food safety scandals.
Wabi is a utility coin which by linking digital and physical assets through RFID with anti-copy functionality, can give consumers a tool to authenticate the product through their phone.
Counterfeiting is a huge problem that costs lives and billions of dollars. In 2004 at least 63 babies died in Fuyang, China after consuming fake baby milk.
In 2008 6 infants were killed and 54.000 hospitalized in another food scandal in China.
In Nigeria, 64% of all pharmaceuticals are fake.
Why it's interesting
First of all, Wabicoin team seems to be located in Singapore, which is a pretty liberal free market place for cryptos. Second, a strong team with good advisors as well. Third, they are close to and aiming for the Chinese market.
The technology sounds great, but why do they need a coin? They argue for that in the White paper, and why regular discount and loyalty points are flawed in comparison to using a crypto currency.
Other than that, it's a $85 million mcap crypto currency, only listen on Binance and Etherdelta. I think this has great potential for massive growth, and I'm aiming for a 20x return on this one long term, meaning 2019.
- Good name - yes
- Good team - yes
- Potential for a lot of growth - yes
- Big market - yes
- Utility - yes
- Utility for coin - maybe/probably
Please don't take financial advice from me. I have no idea what I'm doing, and my 1500% gains in 2017 is probably just due to pure luck. Listen to your professional financial advisor from the traditional banking system, which will help you gain a more subtle, normal and realistic profit of around 5-10% annual. Do never take financial advice from a drunken crypto-viking. Thank you.
How does a coin help fight counterfeits? That went right over my head, but I'm not that quick

No, hehe. The coin doesn't do that. Technology does that. But the coin will make distribution, discounts and loyalty points etc easier and better.

WaBi is on my radar, but I still did not pull a trigger. Watching it closely. I also believe that it has enormous potential.

This was one of the best ICOs ever!!! I am glad that I participated, even if my amount was small, but in USD it is big now :-)
