The cryptocurrency and blockchain industry has a massive problem with being able to accept negative criticisms about a project. It's not very hard to see this happening, whether it be on telegram channels, twitter threads, Reddit, or discord, saying something negative about a project is often confronted with extreme hostility, trolling, and even being banned from said social channels.
This is hugely problematic, as all this does is create a feedback loop of positivity,; Important issues being missed or swept under the rug, only to rear their ugly head later on. There is nothing wrong with negative criticism; In fact, it's often the only way you can improve whatever it is you are working on. Unfortunately, however, the current social climate in various cryptocurrency and blockchain communities does not facilitate this.
Have something to say that isn't positive, and you'll be pushed aside as if you're just a hater. Sure, in some cases, people may be hating unnecessarily, but that is far from the regular happenings. In the past, I used to try and go to various social channels for projects and engage in a healthy conversation about genuine problems, and I'll get ganged upon. The avid project followers were coming to the aid of the project founders to thwart a perceived threat. Occasionally the project founders will engage in the health conversation, trying to arrive at a point of reason. However, this is far from reality.
Instead, the project founders will also gang up on you. Making veiled threats about how you should fall in line or risk professional collapse. I find this quite amusing because, in actuality, it won't be the person with the negative feedback who suffers professional collapse; it will be the project itself. This might seem right, but it's actually not. If you simply dismiss all adverse claims and try to force people to fall in line and be positive all the time, what do you think will happen? You'll sow seeds of frustration in your community, and crucial problems will continue to exist, never being fixed.
It's a bit ironic; The crypto and blockchains community pride themselves on openness, and acceptance. But this is a bit misleading and is never really the case. There is only openness and approval if you fall in line with the project and its founders. The moment you have something to say that isn't positive, no matter how valid it is, you'll be shunned, pushed aside. Labeled the bad actor, the hostile entity, no matter how long you've been supportive of the project at hand.
