So as the dust settles we have learnt that the MEW saga was only a hostile takeover of the twitter handle and the two founding members have mutually agreed to go their separate ways. While this does answer a lot of questions there is still a lot of fear around whether peoples coins are safe and whether either site is safe to use.
To answer the first question, yes your funds are safe as MEW and now Mycrypto are only tools to access your account, your money is not stored on either one. It's like an ATM machine, if an atm was hacked or stolen it would not affect your bank account balance in the slightest, this is important to remember. Moving onto whether the sites are safe, if you trusted Taylor and Kosala toghether then there should be no reason that you should distrust them now but if you use a Ledger Nano S or Trezor hardware wallet then you are completely safe regardless.
Tyalor's team has since put out an FAQ which can be read here:
Mycrypto FAQ
Kosala has also responded which can be read here:
Kosala (MEW) response
I really have to commend Kosala's professionalism and still haven't decided what site I will use moving forward but MEW has always treated me good.
What are your thoughts on the split?
